Hi friends, welcome back! My friend is studying architecture and when she was in town, she asked if I wanted to join her on a Madison Avenue, High Fashion, and Historic Preservation walking tour through the American Institute of Architects NY. I’m always down for a walking tour so I was happy to tag along. It was a pretty gloomy day, but at least it made for less sidewalk congestion on the tour. We started at 61st Street and Madison Avenue making our way up to 75th Street. I will say this tour is catered to those studying architecture or in the field, so a lot of the information was a little o ..read more

Hi friends, welcome back! I’m making progress on my spring bucket list and my latest activity to check off is the Macy’s 49th Annual Flower Show. The display features scents from Christian Dior and will be up from March 24th – April 7th at the Herald Square location. The flower show is free and accessible during normal store hours. My favorite part of any Macy’s seasonal display is always the windows on the Broadway entrance. I love all the colors and how a few of the windows featured moving elements this year like the hummingbirds getting pollen from the flowers. Stepping inside the store y ..read more

Hi friends, welcome back! Spring came early at the New York Botanical Garden. The Enid A. Haupt Conservatory was transformed into a colorful oasis for the twenty first annual Orchid Show and I was excited to attend. The theme this year is Florals in Fashion and it’s on display until April 21st Tuesday through Sunday from 10am-6pm. If you want a more festive experience, the NYBG offers Orchid Nights on the weekends from March 30th through April 20th for people over twenty-one to enjoy the flowers with a cocktail. Jon and I went on a chilly Sunday morning and felt like we were transported to a ..read more

Hi friends, welcome back! March was a good month for Jon and I. We saw some Broadway shows, visited a museum, botanical garden, watched a lot of March Madness, and had a somewhat spontaneous trip to Miami. Jon had to go down for work so we flew down a day early to hang at Miami Beach and get some much needed warmth and sunshine. While Jon was at the conference, I kept myself busy visiting a waterfront Gilded Age mansion, explored the city, and caught up on some reading. We came back to a cold front and really missed walking to get iced coffee in a t-shirt and shorts. I’ll be sharing more about ..read more

Hi friends, welcome back! I love seeing shows on Broadway but somehow it’s been two years since Jon and I last saw The Music Man with Hugh Jackman back in March 2022. This year we made up for it and unintentionally saw three shows in about three weeks. It was awesome being back at the theater and I loved how different each of the three shows were. Up first was Hadestown for a belated Valentine’s Day celebration. This show has been at the top of my list for a few years now and has won 8 Tony awards including best musical. It was guest starring Lola Tung from the show The Summer I Turned Pretty ..read more

The Morgan Library & Museum Tour

Hi friends, welcome back! As an avid reader and museum goer, The Morgan Library & Museum has been on my radar for quite some time. The library was the personal collection of financier John Pierpont Morgan and located off Madison Avenue between 36th and 37th Street. With his large fortune amassed from his dominance on Wall Street, Morgan began collecting rare manuscripts and prints beginning around 1890. As his collection grew, he hired Charles McKim from the firm McKim, Mead & White (who also designed the Boston Public Library and Penn Station) to construct a personal library adjacent ..read more

Hi friends, welcome back! I figured it was time for another edition of the “View From My Window”.  I last posted the inaugural window pictures back in March 2023 and I’ve been collecting pictures ever since.  Jon and I re-signed our lease so we’ll be taking in all these views for at least another year. We face east and south and love all the water views, especially of the East River. Some days the east river is full of action. We got to see the Flower Moon last May. Occasionally there are fireworks in the East River that scare the heck out of me. They’re always a surprise and they ..read more

Hi friends, welcome back! I hope you aren’t hungry because today I’m taking you along on our Greenwich Village Food Tour. Ryan over at Tasty Tours NYC reached out to me to see if we’d be interested in attending and it was an extremely easy yes! He offers group tours of Greenwich Village, the Upper East Side, and the Upper West Side that last about two to two and a half hours. The cost is $79 a person which seems to be the going rate in NYC for a tour this length. Our group for the day included us, our guide Ryan, and a local father daughter duo who are also big foodies. Our tour started at 11a ..read more

A Stroll Around the Neighborhood

Hi friends, welcome back! One of my goals this year was to go outside more and I’ve got into a good habit of it. I know that probably seems silly, but some days it takes a lot of will power to walk out the door and take the elevator downstairs. The NYC air isn’t always fresh, the weather can be less than ideal, but I always feel better after my little walk. All that to say I thought I’d take you along with me on my typical route. I took these pictures on a cold, windy day so there weren’t many others braving the conditions. I dream of strolling through Central Park every day, but in the meanti ..read more

Hi friends, welcome back to the finale of my Switzerland series! Jon and I enjoyed every last second of the mountain views with our morning coffee before we packed up and headed to the train station. The logistics for the day included three different trains as we made our way from Wengen to Zurich. The first of which was the train down to Lauterbrunnen. The views from the train never got old! I sure miss starting my day with a beautiful train or gondola ride. From Lauterbrunnen we boarded a train to Interlaken, and then a final train from Interlaken to Zurich. The train to Zurich was the one ..read more
