TikTok and Universal Music Group (UMG) have settled their dispute. The two parties have agreed on a new licensing agreement that will return the latter company’s catalog — including songs from Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Billie Eilish — to TikTok’s music library. Amidst a chaotic week at TikTok, the app took some time to acknowledge its growing community of sellers — and the safety features that support them. TikTok Shop now has more than 500,000 U.S.-based sellers just eight months after its Stateside debut. The latest TikTok Shop data comes from a “Safety Report” published by the ByteDance-owned app. The report covers the second half of 2023, when TikTok Shop arrived in the U.S. and onboarded more than six million new sellers across the globe. Nothing, Except Everything is getting a big-screen treatment. That’s the name of a short film that earned plaudits for young writer/director Wesley Wang when it premiered last September. Wang has now inked a deal with Darren Aronofsky‘s Protozoa for a feature adaptation of Nothing, Except Everything. A major player in the burgeoning newsletter industry has made a sizable addition to its coffers. Three-year-old beehiiv has raised a $33 million Series B round led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA).
