Pastel portrait process of a child

This is my last portrait for 2020. Just seeing the pictures I knew it would make a beautiful portrait. This painting was made as a Christmas gift commissioned by the father of the child for his wife… He sent me several good pictures of the boy with a very sincere and natural expression, beautiful light, and color range. Good pictures make a difference! In this post, I am not planning to explain all the steps I made, but just to show visually how the portrait evolved from the beginning to the end… I decide to make some general pictures and some closeups for detail and texture. Hope you like it ..read more

I have never been very attached to calendars with their specific dates, but this year, everything that supposedly measures time completely escapes me. I can’t believe that just three months ago we were walking the streets of Lisbon! It was a whirlwind trip.  We crossed all of Spain making the route by car, and after two days stopping here and there, we arrived at a quiet, lonely, authentic, and melancholic Lisboa… A view over Vista barrio de la Baixa Pombalina, ©Photo by Bogra art studio, 2020 Many times we found ourselves to be the only tourists in sight, marveled of this ancient ..read more

It’s been a long time since I posted on my blog for the last time… I had a busy summer, working on my orders and cooperating for the development of the first soft pastel handmade brand, in Spain. The Mamut pastels. This makes me proud and happy because the pastels are really special and already warmly welcomed by pastel societies around the world! I’ll be writing about Mamut pastels very soon, but today I wanted to share one of my latest oil paintings and post some photos I took during the process. This is one of my last pastel portraits… I am so happy with it that I thought it would be great to share it here in my blog. I think it has a very fresh spring look, as the girl´s expression, which I love.. I just recently knew, as a curious detail, that the dress was made by one of only a few hand french sew seamstresses left in the southern U.S. Selected pastels used for the portrait, painting process, Bogra Art Studio, 2021   The post New soft pastel portrait appeared first on Pastel Portraits ..read more

I haven’t blogged for a long time.  The rhythm of the days is becoming somewhat monotonous and the desire to travel insists more and more! With great affection, I open our folders of photos taken during the last great trip we made with my family, just before the second confinement by the Covid. I published then the first part of this trip, the visit to Portugal, but I left the second part for later… and I think it is time to publish it. Comares Palace, Patio de Arrayanes. The work began during the reign of Ismail I of Granada, who ruled between 1314 and 1325. © photo by Bogra a ..read more
