Financed/free devices on carriers are a double-edged sword. On one hand, they’re an easy way to get a new smartphone for cheap/free. On the other hand, carriers also use them to keep you locked to their service for the long haul. These phones are tied to carriers, and if you want to move away from it, you either need to pay off the phone in full or stick with the carrier for a specific period of time. It works, which is why carriers looking to grab these people need to get a little creative with their tactics. T-Mobile has offered a program called “Keep and Switch” since 2020, where it will es ..read more

In the highly competitive world of mobile carriers, it is becoming increasingly common to see them offer enticing deals to capture new users. Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile are Finally Part of T-Mobile
The T-Mo Report

It’s been over a year since we first heard of T-Mobile’s intentions to buy a pair of popular MVNOs, Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile. The deal to buy both networks, one of which Ryan Reynolds famously owns a majority stake, was first announced all the way back in March 2023. Both MVNOs already used T-Mobile’s network even before the acquisition, so you’d be forgiven for not remembering this, or for not knowing that the deal was actually not finalized. After some months of regulatory scrutiny, the deal is finally done and over with, and both MVNOs have finally joined the T-Mobile family. T-Mobile ..read more

AT&T’s “Turbo” Priority Data Add-On Launches May 2nd
The T-Mo Report
by Jman100

Data connections over mobile networks have varying levels of “priority”. These tiers, called “Quality of Service Class Identifiers”, or QCIs, determine who gets priority access (and therefore speeds) on the network. For example, on T-Mobile, someone with the “Go5G Plus” plan has a higher priority level than a customer on the “Essentials” plan. On AT&T, customers will now have the option to pay for an extra add-on called “Turbo” that will move their service up a notch on the QCI scale. According to a leaked image and video sent to us here at The Mobile Report, AT&T’s new “Turbo” add-on ..read more

The T-Mo Report

Providing support to employees can be a cumbersome venture for a company. It is particularly complex for a company like T-Mobile. There are phone features, plan offerings, and promotional deals that change near daily. Properly securing systems that handle sensitive customer data (something T-Mobile still needs a lesson or two about) is also important. There is even financing math to get right. It is a lot to remember and get right across retail and care channels, and now T-Mobile has a plan to make this a more accessible experience for employees. Enter frontline “Superpowers”, new digital too ..read more

Here’s T-Mobile’s New Mesh Wi-Fi 6 Access Point
The T-Mo Report

Wi-Fi coverage can be a pain for larger or weirdly-shaped homes, especially if your main router is located at one end of the house. For T-Mobile, their 5G Home Internet gateways offer usable Wi-Fi 6 signal, but you’re often forced to keep the unit close by a window. We previously reported on an FCC listing we found for a new mesh access point made by Arcadyan, the company that also makes T-Mobile’s latest G4AR gateway. That access point was then announced to be a part of the new Home Internet Plus plan T-Mobile is launching. Thanks to a few images sent to us here at The Mobile Report, we now ..read more

T-Mobile Will Finally Have Decent Protection Against Fraudulent SIM Changes
The T-Mo Report

SIM swap scams are all the rage among criminals these days. Just over a week ago, we reported how employees across the country were receiving an influx of texts offering cash for illegal SIM swaps. Criminals manage to move a victim’s number to a SIM they control, and from there are able to access two-factor authentication for things like bank accounts and crypto. Other carriers are also impacted by the crime as well. For a customer to legitimately move their number to a different SIM (physical or eSIM), T-Mobile’s current system requires contacting a support representative and requesting the S ..read more

Uh-Oh: T-Mobile Will Now Enforce Home Internet Address Eligibility
The T-Mo Report
by James Austin

Despite the fact that T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet is using, well, a “mobile” network, you’re only supposed to use it at the address it was activated on. Still, there was technically nothing stopping you from taking your gateway with you to another location and still enjoying the service. After all, your phone can grab a 5G signal anywhere in the country, and so can your gateway. It seems T-Mobile doesn’t want people doing that, though, at least not without paying significantly more. As such, in addition to the company just announcing a new “Away” plan, they now plan to actually track where you ..read more

The T-Mo Report
by Jman100

T-Mobile has announced a new “Home Internet Plus” as part of their latest newsroom post. The service is quite similar to their standard Home Internet plan but with a few added perks. Home Internet Plus is advertised as the ideal service for customers with heavy internet usage and lots of devices, as well as for homes that are larger and have difficulties getting Wi-Fi to every corner of the home. We’ve obtained a few images of some internal documents detailing how Home Internet Plus works, shown below. There are two key benefits of the Plus plan over the standard Home Internet: A Wi-Fi mesh ..read more
