It’s been over a year since we first heard of T-Mobile’s intentions to buy a pair of popular MVNOs, Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile. The deal to buy both networks, one of which Ryan Reynolds famously owns a majority stake, was first announced all the way back in March 2023. Data connections over mobile networks have varying levels of “priority”. These tiers, called “Quality of Service Class Identifiers”, or QCIs, determine who gets priority access (and therefore speeds) on the network. SIM swap scams are all the rage among criminals these days. Just over a week ago, we reported how employees across the country were receiving an influx of texts offering cash for illegal SIM swaps. Despite the fact that T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet is using, well, a “mobile” network, you’re only supposed to use it at the address it was activated on. Still, there was technically nothing stopping you from taking your gateway with you to another location and still enjoying the service. T-Mobile has announced a new “Home Internet Plus” as part of their latest newsroom post. The service is quite similar to their standard Home Internet plan but with a few added perks.
