This October I participated in Walk for Wellness with a bunch of Travel Professionals. I laced up my sneakers and got moving to raise money for mental health. When Muscle Backpack heard of my challenge they kindly donated a backpack to take on my hikes. Bushwalking and hiking are some of my favourite things to do. Getting into nature and exploring Western Australia’s natural beauty is the best thing for my mental health! When hiking I need a bag to take all my essential items. Muscle Backpack is not only suitable for the gym but perfect for travel and hiking. It is water resistant and has a 4 ..read more

What is a road trip without music? We just spent a few weeks cruising around the South West of Western Australia. While camping we were swimming, playing cards, running or just hanging by the water with music playing in the background thanks to Creative Labs. They supplied us with a Creative MUVO Go Portable Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker, Creative Zen Hybrid wireless headphones and a cable bag. Being the new year I have set a few resolutions, to get fit and to spend 1000 hours outside as a family. We already spend a lot of time outdoors however I feel screen time is starting to creep into our ..read more

I can’t scroll past a competition post on Instagram without entering. Finally, I won something and guess what I won? A weekend getaway with Heyscape Tiny Cabins in Toodyay. We booked the dates for a family cabin near Toodyay and that was all we knew, the exact location is kept a secret. Not knowing where we were going added to the excitement of our getaway. Let’s face, it with modern technology there are not many surprises these days. Heyscape Tiny Cabins are set on private secluded farmland all over Western Australia. The cabins may vary, but they are all off-grid with solar, batteries ..read more

Exploring Eden Media – Books for the Outdoors

My bookshelf is full of travel guides. When I was backpacking around the world I always had a guidebook tucked away ready to be whipped out at any moment. It helped me to find cool places to stay, eat and tourist attractions to explore.  Even though my style of travel has changed from backpacking to family travel I still have a local guidebook handy.  100 Things to See in The Kimberley On our half lap of Australia, 100 Things to See in the Kimberley was our bible. The book was written by an award-winning tour guide and who knows the area better than a local? There were so many thing ..read more

Okay, so I have neglected this little space of mine on the internet lately. Since returning from our half lap of Australia life has been hectic. I have been too busy chauffeuring children around and working, I have hardly had time to sit down and give you a life update.  We absolutely loved life on the road and didn’t want to return home. I could have kept travelling and exploring more of this wonderful country. I was in a real funk when I got back. The weather was awful, I was sick and I had a hard time settling back into life.  One morning on our trip I was up early walking to th ..read more

Review: Tesalate Towel

A big shout out to Tesalate who sent us one of their towels to review. I have been eyeing off these towels on social media for a while. To be honest the price put me off buying one. I was keen to get my hands on one of these towels and see if the towels are as good as they claim. If you are not familiar with Tesalate towels they are sand-free, quick-dry and compact. I have been using the towel for the past month. We have been down the beach, swimming in our pool, camping and on a boat. The towel has been put to good since we received it! The Tesalate towels are perfect for the beach as they d ..read more

Must haves for the Gibb River Road

The Gibb River Road is an amazing dirt road adventure through the heart of the Kimberly in Western Australia. The dusty road was once a cattle route and now it is an iconic 4wd expedition. There are plenty of gorges, rivers and waterfalls to explore. I was so concerned about ‘surviving the Gibb River Road’ that I didn’t think about what we actually needed for the journey. Besides having a 4wd and camping equipment for this epic journey there are some other must have items to assist in exploring the region. Camelbak There are so many amazing hikes down gorges to stunning waterfalls along the ..read more

3 Months in a Jayco Camper Trailer
Let Me Be Free Blog

If you have wondered what it is like to travel fulltime in a Jayco Camper Trailer we have shared our experience. We packed up our family and spent an amazing 3+ months travelling Western Australia and the Northern Territory. We have a 2016 Jayco Eagle Outback and we were a little nervous to see if it would survive off road tracks such as The Gibb River Road. Let’s see how the Jayco held up! In preparation for the trip, we swapped out the Dometic 3-way fridge for a Bushman 12V fridge, an Enerdrive DCDC charger, a new set of tyres and not much else.  We stayed in low-cost campgrounds, cara ..read more

Time to hit the road

I can’t believe we are about to hit the road and travel Australia for 3 months! I started this blog 6 years ago and in one of my first posts, I mentioned our dream was to travel Australia as a family. It has taken a while to get there but now our dream is finally becoming a reality. We have been working hard and saving our pennies. Now it is time to reward ourselves and live our dream. Itinerary We want to be flexible with our travel plans and go with the flow. If we liked a place, stay for a few days or a week, see where the wind takes us. Due to Covid, there are so many people exploring th ..read more

Reward Points for Travelling Australia

Who doesn’t like saving money or getting some sort of value for spending their hard earnt dollars? In less than a month, we will be hitting the road full-time and I have looked at ways we can save a buck here or there. We plan to free camp as much as possible to save money. In the larger towns, we will stay in Caravan Parks plus we will need to do some laundry from time to time! Many of the Caravan Parks belong to chains and they offer lots of discounts and freebies. You often need to pay for a membership card but if you are travelling enough you will make your money back. Now lets get stuck ..read more
