With the news giving constant updates on the War in Ukraine you would be forgiven for the situation becoming 'normalised', but have you stopped to think just how close Ukraine is? Having spent lots of time in Kyiv, Kharkiv and on the Black Sea, with friends in Ukraine, I wanted to do something to highlight the distance and the urgent need for your/our/my continued support. For my 50th year on planet Earth, I am riding my trusty BMW R1200GSA to the Poland/Ukraine border. I aim to ride the 1066 (approx) miles from Calais to the Poland/Ukraine border in under 24 hours to highlight how close this ..read more

Moto Ventura Blog

Our 2023 tour is a sweet little 10-day blast to the French Alps in July and quite frankly, you would be mad to miss it. For that reason, we are calling it 'Insanity', though you will be forgiven for thinking the name is more akin to the state of mind when you see the roads we are riding. We are also planning a long weekend over to Ukraine, but for obvious reasons, this is not a tour but a personal mission. Insanity. Running from the 30th of June to the 10th of July 2023 we will meet the group at Folkestone for a morning crossing of the channel tunnel on the 1st of July. From Calais, we ride do ..read more

SMIDSY, Collision Mitigation & Conflict Avoidance
Moto Ventura Blog

The 'SMIDSY', a word that sends shudders down the spine of many motorcyclists but, with the increase of traffic on the road, social pressures and general life-stresses it is more relevant now than it has ever been. For those bikers still scratching their heads, the SMIDSY refers to the classic phrase, 'Sorry Mate I Didn't See You!" and I am sure that many riders have experienced this in one form or another during their time on two wheels. I want to highlight the SMIDSY along with Collision Mitigation & Conflict Avoidance as there are some uncomfortable truths which need to be recognised in ..read more

The Mighty Grossglockner High Alpine Road is, at 2504 metres, the highest paved road in Austria and we will be riding this epic road in September 2022 as we ride south to Croatia for our Adriatic Tour. The toll road is approximately 30 miles in length however we add a couple more miles to that with a short trip to see the glacier and Franz-Josefs-Höhe viewpoint. Opened on the 3rd of August 1935 the road, planed since 1924, took 5 years to construct and is only open between the beginning of May and end of October. The route passes over an alpine divide which is marked with a tunnel and over th ..read more

For those of you "not from round 'ere", Paignton Bike Night is arguably one of the oldest such events on the weekly summer calendar in the South West for Bikers. Launched by the annual BMAD festival (Bikers Make A Difference) in the May Bank Holiday, Paignton Bike Nights occur each Wednesday night throughout the summer on the seafront of the popular Devon resort located just a couple of minutes along the coastal road from Torquay. As well as copious amounts of top notch food on offer from the Geopark Cafe set to the theme and soundtrack of Elvis Presley it gives folks the chance to have a wan ..read more

Black Forest Return!
Moto Ventura Blog

A long overdue return to the Black Forest saw Moto Ventura riders enjoying cold beer in the evenings and 30 degree roads during the day. We know there is a lot more to the Black Forest than the B500 and riders got to enjoy some fantastic twists and turns away from the beaten track. Triberg and Wolfach were natural stopping points and the fun challenge of finding the largest cuckoo clock was won by Steve, who not only went the extra mile - but went quite a few extra miles to secure the win though it was perhaps unintentional. The amazing thing about the Black Forest is that it has the perfect ..read more
