Hey There Caddyshackers  “Happy Mardi Gras!” This was a term we used to hear on one night of the year as the sequins, feathers, leather and floats danced their way down Oxford Street in Sydney. Thanks largely to World Pride in Sydney 2023 and the ongoing movements of the Rainbow community and their Allies, Mardi Gras is now much more than one day. It’s a festival full of love, inclusion and advocacy.  Mardi Gras 2024  This year’s festival began on the 16th of February with the program celebrating the entire LGBTQIA+ community. There were over 100 community events, including danc ..read more

Hi Caddyshackers, Feb 2024 here we go! What makes you blush? It’s the middle of a conversation and suddenly if you feel heat in your cheeks, you are blushing! So, what makes you blush? Go on, tell us! It was a lunchtime conversation with an external partner from a Non-Government Organization (NGO) last year that really got us thinking about this. Over lunch, the conversation led to books, and never missing a ..read more

Hi there Caddyshakers,  We are kicking of this months blog with an advance warning! We are going to go a little bit official government speak on you. But don’t worry, stay with us! We promise not to be boring. Gah!  Think of this blog like a glimpse behind the curtain, a behind the scenes sequence where it’s all laid on the table. Selling it to you? We often get asked by Uni students, TAFE students or anyone when we are out and about, if Health Promotion is a real job. As in, “Gee you guys get to do some cool stuff, who knew its an actual career.” Spoiler alert. Yep, it is a real job ..read more

Hey there Caddyshackers!  Guest blogger Jen here.  We are keeping the good vibes rolling this month with a look into Sex Positivity! A term we use A LOT in our work and feel really strongly about, but something you may not have heard of or thought about before.  So, what is sex positivity?  This is a term you may have seen around a little more in the last few years. It certainly is having a moment right now. In order to explain what it is, maybe we should start with its opposite…sex negativity.  A sex negative lens implies (doesn’t even necessarily need to state) that ..read more

Hi There Caddyshackers, Welcome to Throwback Thursday, following on from a few of the throwbacks to our previous history, surfboards, slogans & designs we have featured in this year’s blogs already. Condom Couture Today’s shining star is “Condom Couture” Over a decade ago we came up with the idea of making an outfit using condoms. How did we come up with that? This idea sprung from the international fashion scene, where models sashayed down the catwalk in condom couture. If it’s good enough for fashion shows in Milan and Paris, then it is good enough for sexual health promotion in the Illa ..read more
