Best Wheel of Time TV Show Characters.

The acting in the Wheel of Time TV show was great, and I am excited to share my list of my best Wheel of Time TV show characters. Two months ago, I ranked my favorite Wheel of Time characters, but the TV show’s representation of the characters is different. This list isn’t ranked by how good the characters are in the book but by how well they were represented in the show. By that same token, screen time doesn’t matter. Only three of the Edmonds fielders made it on the list, and a few of the characters that made it on the list, have less than ten minutes of screen time. Now that you know how I ..read more

Wheel of Time Episode 8: A Disappointment.

Wheel of Time Episode 8 was horrible. After watching this episode, I needed new glasses and atherapist. Seriously, was this episode written by a twelve-year-old? I wanted to write a nuanced review, but there was nothing positive about this episode. In the first fewminutes, they ruined one of my favorite characters – Lan. When Lan calls Nynaeve a lioness, I couldn’t tell if it was a bad joke or the writers were heavily influenced by a child’s romantic fantasies. After watching this scene, I couldn’t look at Lan with a straight face. But that isn’t the only scene that makes me want to pull my ..read more

Wheel of Time episode 7, The Dark Along the Ways, is filled with revelations, introductions, and character conflict. We travel the Ways and visit the borderland city of Fal Dara. But the most remarkable scene in the episode was the cold open. Cold open. A pregnant Aiel is killing soldiers left and right on a frozen battlefield. Every time she finds cover, a regiment of soldiers appears. When no soldiers are in sight, she hides behind a rock and starts to give birth, but when she looks up, a knight in full armor has his sword to her neck. This scene is original and iconic. It’s one of those sce ..read more

In Wheel of Time episode 6, The Flame of Tar Valon, our characters finally reunite, and the Amyrlin judges Logain. This episode is from Moraine’s perspective as she navigates Aes Sedai politics and deception. The Trial. Logain Ablar, once the most feared man in the world, is dragged before The Amyrlin, the leader of the Aes Sedai. Logain taunts the Amyrlin in hopes that she will hang him, but The Amyrlin isn’t deceived and sentences him to life in servitude. When The Amyrlin asks Moraine what she has been doing for the past two years, and Moraine refuses to answer, the Amyrlin Rebukes Moraine ..read more

Wheel of Time Episode 5: A Grounded Episode

Wheel of Time episode 5 is tragic, slow, and methodical. The separate plotlines are merging in Tar Valon, the home of the Aes Sedai. Tar Valon is a sanctuary from fades, but not Aes Sedai politics. The constant threat of Trollocs didn’t allow our characters to contemplate their grief or self-hatred. But now that a month has passed, and there isn’t a Trolloc insight, our characters take a step back and deal with their pain. Stepin grieves for Kerene, and he blames himself for her death. As a Worder, he was willing to sacrifice his life to protect his Aes Sedai. To Stepin, he is alive, and Keren ..read more

Wheel of Time Episode 4: A Dramatically Silly Episode.

Wheel of Time episode 4, The Dragon Reborn, follows three separate storylines but focuses on Nynaeve, Moraine, and Lan as they help escort The False Dragon – Logain Ablar. This episode has some much-needed world-building and character development, but it still has a long road before it can live up to Robert Jorden’s books. My biggest complaint about this episode is that some scenes feel dramatically silly like I’m watching a melodrama. Perrin and Egwene travel with the Tuatha’an – The Traveling people or The Tinkers.   In a meaningful conversation with Ina, Perrin learns that The Tinkers ..read more

A Song of Ice and Fire Q&A.

Is A Song of Ice and Fire good? Should I read the books or watch the show? Is it hard to read? Those are a few of the many questions I asked before reading the series. Now that I have read the books, here are the answers. Is A Song of Ice and Fire good? It’s incredible. It is filled with nuanced, genuine characters who struggle to survive in the harsh political environment of Westeros. There are few book series as well-rounded and intriguing as A Song of Ice and Fire. But… George RR Martin, author of A Song of Ice and Fire Who should read A Song of Ice and Fire? People who want a complex serie ..read more

Wheel of Time Episode 3 spoiler review.

Wheel of Time episode 3, A Place of Safety, is the best episode thus far. It has character building and my favorite traveling bard – Thom Merrilin. In the last episode, the evil of Shadar Logoth split up our shaggy heroes into three groups; Rand, Mat, and Thom; Perrin and Egwene; Lan, Moraine, and Nynaeve. This episode focuses on the adventures of Mat and Rand. We are introduced to the world-wise bard – Thom Merrilin. Thom’s introduction was perfect. I was scared when Thom wasn’t introduced in the first episode.  All my worries faded away the second Thom stepped on stage. His presence, th ..read more

Should you read the His Dark Materials trilogy

This post was written by my long-time friend, Eli. Thank you for joining the blog. It’s good to have multiple perspectives, and Eli’s perspective and ideas are original. Thank you Eli. The His Dark Material trilogy, which is split up into three books: The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass is the story of Lyra, a young girl who lives in a world similar to ours who is said in a prophecy to be the bearer of an important destiny, though Lyra doesn’t know it. The trilogy found much success when it was published and was (and still is) hailed by critics as one of the greatest ..read more

Wheel of Time Ep2. Shadow’s Waiting Review.
The Second World

My prayers were ignored; Wheel of Time episode 2 has the same issues as episode 1. Ep. 2 is slightly better, But not good enough. We are introduced to The White Cloaks, a fanatical religious army, in the best (worst) possible way: by burning an Aes Sedai alive. A White Cloak Questioner Eamon Valda took the spotlight.  Abdul Salis’s performance reminds me of Joffrey from Game of Thrones. We cut to Moraine killing a man and his family. Not really, but this scene teaches us a lot about her and what she is willing to do to stop the Shadow. After watching the man die, the Edmonds Fielders qu ..read more
