Okay, so are you ready for a bold claim? These may be the best cookie I have ever made and eaten, in fact it might be the best thing I have ever baked….yip that is right – I said it! BEST BAKE EVER! These brownie / cookie hybrides are melt in the mouth, slightly squidgy, super rich chocolatey pieces of heaven and are the stuff of legends here at GeekHQ - they are so good in fact that they didn’t even last 24 hours before they were finished. Lily Bakes Cakes Review
Glasgow Food Geek
by Pam Gilmour

If you follow me on Instagram you will know that I take cakes very very seriously. I take them so seriously in fact that I recently queued for 30 minutes in the rain to get my hands on some Lily Bakes Cakes goodies. Now this in itself isn't especially newsworthy, but if you ask literally any of my pals they will tell you I don't wait for tables in restaurants and I don't queue for more than about 5 minutes for food ever! So this should tell you how excited I was to try out this new Partick hot spot. In the shop you can find a ridiculously delicious selection of cakes - the flavours can vary f ..read more

Singl-end is the breakfast OG….. and I won't hear anyone say otherwise! Of course there are many a great brunch spot to be found in the city, but Singlend will forever have a special spot in my heart. And if you follow me on Instagram you will know that my love for these guys is all encompassing, so of course it was going to be one of the first places that I added back into the new look GFG blog. When I wrote my first blog on this brunching spot I started it in this fashion… Going about my everyday life I often forget how much I am completely in love with the food on offer in the West End of ..read more

Peanut Butter & Nutella Swirl Cookies
Glasgow Food Geek
by Pam Gilmour

This week I wanted to share one of my favourite recipes with you Peanut Butter & Nutella Swirl Cookies. These are the cookies I knock together quickly just cause I fancy a little sweet nibble and there is nothing in my candy drawer. Plus it marries 2 of my favourite foods – Peanut Butter and Nutella….surely a combo made in heaven, right? I know that a lot of people aren’t crazy about Peanut Butter but don’t let that put you off giving these a go. The peanut butter just gives the cookies a lovely delicate nutty flavour rather than a super heavy peanut butter hit. These cookies are MEG ..read more

Sylvans Review
Glasgow Food Geek
by Pam Gilmour

Woodlands in the West End has an odd assortment of businesses, having lived in the area for 8 year I have seen multiple businesses come and go now, particularly at the Charing Cross end of the street. I don’t know what it is because for an area with such high foot traffic, many food businesses seem to fail to connect with the neighbourhood. The good news is that the newly opened Sylvan at 20 Woodlands Rd is about to change this, and hopefully start a little mini regeneration in this little pocket. Ever since I saw that Sylvan was a Vegan / Veggie spot I knew instantly that MrG would never go ..read more

Glasgow Foodies Recommends: with @laurenscravings

Pam: New mum and cooking guru @laurenscravings talks us through her favourite Glasgow hot spots to grab a bite to eat in the city. I think Lauren has great taste when it comes to food, and I completely agree that all of these places are fantastic, and definitely worth checking out asap. Pasha With so many competing restaurants of similar fare, Pasha’s food really had to stand out for me to take notice. And it stood up, adorned in glitter (or is that lamb juices…?) and did the shimmy! The owner, Hassan, is knowledgeable and passionate about his food, which in my experience always translates in ..read more

Brawsome Bagels Review
Glasgow Food Geek

Brawsome by name Brawsom by nature. When I heard a month or two ago about Brawsom Bagels opening in Partick my first thought was FINALLY!!!! Ever since I moved to Glasgow I have been banging on about how much we needed a great bagel shop… somewhere that makes tons of flavours and then stuffs them with delicious fillings. And finally after 8 years my prayers have been answered in the form of Brawsome Bagels. Vibes: Last week I popped in for an impromptu visit to pick up some goodies and ended up meeting Ian, the brains behind the bagels and getting a tour of the kitchen - which bizarrely is ma ..read more

Hello from the blogging abyss
Glasgow Food Geek

About a month ago on Instagram I asked if people would be interested in a Glasgow Food Geek newsletter, because there was no way I was bringing the blog back - I didn’t have time, I didn’t have the motivation anymore, plus do people still read blogs anymore? Everyone was super supportive of a newsletter, which was great, but the amount of DM’s I got asking for the blog to come back kind of blew me away. So what started off as an idea to do a once a month newsletter has spiralled way out of control into a whole new blog! It's been three years since I've really taken my blogging seriously...the ..read more

Five March Review
Glasgow Food Geek
by Pam Gilmour

If you are looking to enjoy one of the darlings of the food scene in Glasgow you won’t go far wrong with Five March. It’s as cool as a cucumber, and the ever changing menu is brimming with intriguing and unusual ingredients. Vibes: Five March, located on Elderslie Street, is where the cool kids dine. As Coolio himself once said it’s a hipsters paradise…or he said something like that I am sure! Lots of wood, vintage style school chairs and plants. Think under done and minimalist, with a smear of scandi chic. I’m not going to lie the first time I went I thought ‘Christ I am not cool or hipster ..read more

Over the last 18 months I don’t there is a restaurant I have missed more than I have missed ,Eusebis. You see this is my restaurant - it’s my place! This is where I meet my pals for coffee, and where I take my notoriously difficult to please Mother and Grandmother. It’s where I take my 7 year old nephew for hotdog and chips pizza, and where I grab a cake when I go visiting, and it’s where I go for relaxed dinners with my pals. This is my everything restaurant and boy have I missed them In Glasgow we aren’t short of an Italian restaurant - And whether you like old school Italian trattorias, mod ..read more
