1 Writer/Artist Stref’s real name is Stephen White and his first boss was Irvine Welsh of ‘Trainspotting’ fame!
2 The first Tintin book he ever read was ‘The Secret Of The Unicorn’, which was the basis for the recent film.
3 Stref always wanted to draw a Tintin story but when Herge died in 1983 no new stories were to be produced. However you are allowed to do books in the style of Herge – so Scottish writer/artist created a Scottish female lead and based his character in Scotland.

There’s an anniversary coming and some reading this may even want to celebrate it.
The newest British comic to be regularly found on the shelves of newsagents, Quantum, launched in April 2023. Tara Togs is written/drawn by Stref by a Scot, set in Scotland with a Scottish lead character. Action, adventure and a mystery to discover it took five years to produce and the inspiration is Tintin – get it here.

Tara Togs and the Secret of Unicorns by Stref is ComicScene’s biggest kickstarter to date – with just over 2 weeks to go.
We have 250 backers and you can join them here for this 72 page graphic novel, inspired by Tintin.

Tara Togs The Silence of Unicorns has been picked up for a major new streaming TV series by Disney+
The graphic novel, which is currently on Kickstarter here, has seen a jump in backers who are eager to get the first print of the book before Tara Togs goes global.
Disnae+ have been keen to pick up new and old comic book stories since the success of Doctor Who The Star Beast, which adapted a comic over 40 years old by Pat Mills and Dave Gibbons.

You can get original art from the short Tara Togs story ‘Hot Dog’ – there are currently 7 pages left.
There is only one original sketch award left (of 15) but there are 44 of 68 sketches that were done throughout the five years of production.
