Building LLM Applications with Kernel Memory and Redis
Redis

Redis now integrates with Kernel Memory, allowing any dev to build high-performance AI apps with Semantic Kernel. Semantic Kernel is Microsoft’s developer toolkit for integrating LLMs into your apps. You can think of Semantic Kernel as a kind of operating system, where the LLM is the CPU, the LLM’s context window is the L1 cache, and your vector store is what’s in RAM. Kernel Memory is a component project of Semantic Kernel that acts as the memory-controller, and this is where Redis steps in, acting as the physical memory. As an AI service, Kernel Memory lets you index and retrieve unstructure ..read more

Explore the new Multimodal RAG template from LangChain and Redis

Large language models (LLMs) are trained on massive sets of public data and excel at generating human-like text based on that information. However, they don’t have access to private or corporate data, which limits how effective they are for enterprise use cases. Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) is a popular approach to connect LLMs to this specialized data, broadening their knowledge bases beyond their initial training data. With RAG, companies are using LLMs to answer questions about their unique documents and data. RAG works by integrating a retrieval component into the generative proces ..read more

Multi-Tenancy in Redis Enterprise
Redis
by James Tessier

In a multi-tenant architecture, a single software instance serves many distinct user groups (or “tenants”). Each tenant’s data is securely isolated, ensuring that it remains invisible and inaccessible to others. Think of it like an apartment building with people living in separate and isolated units of a shared building.  Within Redis, multi-tenancy refers to a single server efficiently managing the needs of various tenants, each maintaining their data securely and separately. Operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness are a few key advantages of this approach. This is because it provi ..read more

How Confluent and Redis Enterprise work together Utilizing connectivity tools like Confluent Connect, the integration between Redis Cloud and Confluent streamlines data interchange between applications and data systems. Redis Cloud facilitates real-time access and analysis across various data sources, seamlessly integrating into streaming data environments. The Redis sink connector facilitates data export from Confluent to Redis Cloud t, while the Redis source connector subscribes to Redis Streams channels enabling message transfer to Confluent. Primary Use Cases for Redis Cloud and Confluent ..read more

Click image to view video Welcome to “What’s New in Two,” the place to catch up on the Redis releases you might have missed from last month. In this article, we’ll delve deeper into developments from April, expanding on what I covered in our latest video. I’ve included a video thumbnail above for those who prefer watching a quick recap of this month’s updates. Let’s dive in. You know our name, now meet our new brand. You’ve always known us for caching, but the thousands of customers who use Redis for vector search or as their NoSQL database know us for a different kind of fast. We thought it w ..read more

Building a RAG application with Redis and Spring AI
Redis

Introduction Vector databases frequently act as memory for AI apps. This is especially true for those powered by large language models (LLMs). Vector databases allow you to perform semantic search, which provides relevant context for prompting the LLM.  Until recently, there weren’t many options for building AI apps with Spring and Redis. Now, Redis has gained traction as a high-performance vector database. And the Spring community introduced a new project called Spring AI, which aims to simplify the development of AI-powered apps, including those that leverage vector databases.  Let ..read more

Redis recently announced its achievement of the Google Cloud Ready designation for CloudSQL and AlloyDB. Cloud SQL is Google Cloud’s fully managed relational database service for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server. AlloyDB for PostgreSQL is Google Cloud’s newest fully managed PostgreSQL-compatible database service. This designation signifies that Redis’ solution has met the certification guidelines and has been validated by Google, following a collaborative effort with Google’s engineering teams. The Google Cloud Ready program designation is a significant milestone that enables enterprises to a ..read more

What Redis’ License Change Means for Our Managed Service Providers
Redis
by Ash Vijay

Since we announced last week that future versions of Redis will be released under dual source-available licenses, we decided to outline a few changes in how we will work with managed service providers going forward. Redis considers companies offering Redis OSS embedded in a solution or Redis-complementary services as managed service providers (“MSPs”). This licensing change does not impact developers who continue to build on our source-available Community Edition, and most importantly, we are staying committed to that developer community and enterprise customer base by investing in a strong pa ..read more

Lettuce joins the family of officially supported clients under the Redis umbrella. With the Redis 7.2 release, we’re committed to supporting the key client libraries that the developer community uses.  These official client libraries complement the latest Redis functionality, security features, and are optimized for performance, with consistent docs and user interfaces. Lettuce joins the other five official client libraries––Jedis (Java), node-redis (NodeJS), redis-py (Python), NRedisStack (.Net), and Go-Redis (Go).  Lettuce is an advanced and non-blocking Java Redis driver that ..read more
