It feels like barely a week has passed since my last monthly mail, but here we are again! This last month has been BUSY! We had our first event of the season last week in France at the Defi Wind, so the last month has mainly been training and preparing for that as well as jam packed with work projects, reigniting my passion for writing and spending time with friends that I rarely get to see! TOP 3 IN THE WORLD – GOING OVER 30 KNOTS ON A FOIL IN LAKE GARDA!

From Tenerife it was on to the beautiful Lake Garda for the next block of training! The focus was foiling – it’s not been my first love, as a true “fin addict” but its a major part of the game now and something I have embraced!  In Garda I took delivery of my foil specific “WARP_FOIL” sails by Duotone, and along with a new GPS – the Vertix 2 by COROS, it was time to really push and see how fast I could go! The true measurement of speed is done by speed over a time or speed over a distance – 2 second, 10 second, 100m, 250m, 500m… On day 1 with the 6.9 WARP_FOIL straight out of the bag an ..read more

TIME’S UP IN TENERIFE – THE FULL LOW DOWN FROM THE BEST WINTER TRAINING

My time on Tenerife is up and what an amazing winter we have had! Whilst we have had a shortage of “True Tenerife” conditions, it’s safe to say I’ve benefited a lot from being out here this winter. It’s the first time I’ve ever been able to fully dedicate a solid block of time to training and the difference it makes it unmatched. The limits we are pushing on the foils has reached a whole new level – going in conditions we never previously thought possible and even starting to get comfortable in these conditions! It’s definitely going to be an interesting season ahead. GBR GIRLS TRAINING HARD S ..read more

FULL POWER FEBRUARY: HARDCORE TRAINING IN TENERIFE AT THE TWS PRO SLALOM CAMP

Wow! What a month that was! After a slow start to the year, it’s safe to say February was jam packed full with action. It’s been non-stop training this month with over 500km sailed. I’ve been pushing my limits on both fin and foil, even trying the 5.0 on the foil (that was scary!). It’s been super windy so I don’t think I’ve used anything other than 5.0 and 5.8 all month. We’ve had training in the bay in some huge swell, as well as some flat water up at the harbour. It’s been a good mix to try to get better across a range of conditions. Besides lots of slalom training, I’ve also had some awes ..read more

SARAH’S STORIES ~ TALES FROM THE TIREE WAVE CLASSIC

It’s been an amazing week up in Tiree for the Tiree Wave Classic! Windsurfing, surfing, beach cleaning, walking and a whole lot of cake eating (thank you Fiona)! Tiree is definitely one of my favourite events and it’s one of those places where I find I can just switch off from the outside world and enjoy being outside with friends and on the water with no distractions! SINGLE ELIMINATION SUNDAY The competition started on Sunday with a day of starboard tack float and ride at Balephuill – not really my conditions as I would normally go slalom training when it’s this light, but that’s the reason ..read more

Sometimes you dream about the perfect week of racing – sunny, warm, windy, blue waters, good racing… Well, that was Paros! An incredible week of racing, good vibes and an awesome location. Perhaps the only imperfection in the week was the mission getting to and from the remote Greek island. Van, plane, taxi, local greek builder’s van (yes you read that right..), ferry, pickup. It’s never glamourous travelling with 200kg of kit but I have to say this trip nearly broke me! Every windsurfer has a trip from hell and I feel like I’m racking them up this year but when we finally arrived in this wond ..read more

What more can I say other than, The best event of my life! But before we get to that part, a little bit of background as to how I got there… A winter in Spain, a nasty concussion, graduating with a first-class degree, a pandemic, a new job and a winter in the cold – all events since the last time I competed on the World Tour! The final element – winter in the cold, was possibly one of the toughest mental struggles of my life. The elements, whilst fun at times, were extreme and good sessions were few and far between making training sporadic and often lonely. Don’t get me wrong, I have an amazin ..read more

Sarah’s Stories ~ CONCUSSION & COVID
Sarah Jackson Windsurfing

Life has a weird way of working out sometimes This photo was taken back in January when I was training full power in Tarifa for the “upcoming” 2020 season. France, Japan, South Korea, Portugal and then a summer in Greece! I crashed hard that session and after multiple crashes on the foil throughout the winter, this was the final impact that gave me concussion (although I didn’t know it at the time). Fast forward 6 weeks, the doctor told me to have a month off and that I might just about be ok for the first event in France in April… Then COVID happened and everyone’s world’s changed – whilst ..read more
