Cadillac will be a “tier-one luxury brand” in Australia, with the incoming Lyriq EV to be followed by a fleet of a high-end electric vehicles that will target Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Lexus in our market.
That’s the word from Cadillac’s chief marketing officer, Melissa Grady Dias, who says Australia’s newest brand has little interest competing in the affordable EV space, and will instead duke it out at the top-end of the new-car market.

Ambitious start-up XPeng is the latest Chinese electric car company to confirm its arrival in Australia.
To be imported, distributed and retailed here by Sydney-based TrueEV, the timetable revealed this week calls for the mid-size Xpeng G6 SUV to be on-sale in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Galaxy is the 15 month-old sub-brand of Geely Auto, which in turn is a division of the gigantic Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, which owns or has a share of Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, Zeekr and Lynk & Co among others.

VW has once again upgraded its Volkswagen ID.3 compact electric hatch with a comprehensive range of updates.
Included in the overhaul are a power boost, faster charging and a new augmented reality head-up display, a fresh wellness app and a more powerful sound system.
Like other recent Volkswagens, the VW ID.3 features the larger 12.9-inch touchscreen as standard. It now incorporate a more intuitive menu and a ChatGPT AI-powered onboard assistant and illuminated touch sliders.

Buoyed by the sell-out success of the newly-arrived Volvo EX30 electric hatch and unphased by some troubling recent challenges for the local EV market, the Swedish brand’s Aussie outpost has declared it remains fully committed to going all-EV in 2026.
Priced from $59,990 (plus on-roads), the first 1500 examples of the EX30 pre-sold even before customer deliveries began this week.

Fresh data reveals used electric vehicles are now in high demand as buyers look to cash in on low retained values and tax benefits related to novated leasing.
The automotive data analytics expert AutoGrab has released figures showing the BYD Atto 3 and Tesla Model 3 were the fastest-moving of any used vehicles through dealerships in March.
This is the first time EVs have featured on the list, let alone topped it.

The 2024 BYD Shark has been revealed without camouflage, with the plug-in petrol dual cab’s launch timing now officially revealed.
The ute that will take on the Ford Ranger, Toyota HiLux and Isuzu D-Max was a surprising no-show at the Beijing Motor Show last month, and we now know that the brand will officially launch the ute in Mexico on May 14.
But in the lead-up to that event, BYD has given us our first proper look at its PHEV ute, with the Shark pictured off-road as part of the promotion for its launch.

Three years after it was launched the Kia EV6 electric mid-size SUV is ready for an overhaul.
To prove it, Kia has given us our first glimpse of its new front and rear styling ahead of an Australian launch later in the year.
Previewing the Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E rival’s new face and rear styling, it’s clear the EV6 will adopt a pair of new C-shaped-ultra-slim front lamps and a pair of revised taillamps in a bid to align it with the more recent EV5 and EV9 electric SUVs.

The 2025 Jeep Gladiator 4xe has been confirmed as the off-road icon’s latest electrifies model..
The plug-in hybrid version of the 4×4 ute will rock up next year using the same PHEV 2.0-litre turbo from the current Wrangler 4xe that already on sale in the US.
It’s the latest PHEV ute to be confirmed, joining the Ford Ranger and BYD Shark. Unlike them, we’re not yet sure if the Gladiator 4xe will make it to Australia.

Honda will fast-track EVs to market as it responds to booming demand in the electric car space and intensifying competition.
