CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) - December 4 marks the anniversary of a significant date in the Mountain State's history. On that date in 1957, the first woman to serve as West Virginia's Secretary of State was appointed to the position. She was also a former West Virginia Delegate.
Helen (Froelich) Holt was born in 1913 in Gridley, Illinois, the daughter of the town's mayor, William Froelich and his wife Edna, according to Holt's Wikipedia page. CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) - West Virginia Governor Jim Justice is speaking out against the recent announcement that United States Postal Service is considering shutting down its South Charleston distribution and processing center.

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) -- A new WMOV/American Pulse poll shows that Republican voters are overwhelmingly likely to vote for current Gov. Jim Justice for U.S. Senate, likely giving control of the Senate to Republicans.
Here are some highlights from the polling data:
U.S. Senate
Republican voters are most likely to vote for Gov. Jim Justice for U.S. Senate with 55.7% saying they'll vote for him. 22.1% of Republican voters are undecided, and 19.9% say they'll vote for Rep. Alex Mooney.

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) - A civil lawsuit surrounding the seizure of a helicopter owned by West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice’s family-owned business Bluestone Resources is being transferred to a different district.
According to court records, a motion was filed Nov. 8, 2023, by an attorney on behalf of Bluestone Resources, Inc. (BRI), to have the case moved to the Roanoke Division of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia.
