It Doesn’t Take a Lawyer To see Problems

I am no lawyer, nor do I claim to understand all the legal terms, case law or constitutional challenges before the courts. However, there is a concern as a reasonable person who is against any establishment binding the conscience of a Christian to partake in medical procedures. The concern multiplies when the Canadian courts or other agencies appear biased or political. Two sections of human rights legislation have come under great debate over the last two plus years. These are the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Ontario Human Rights Code. Under section two of the Federal Char ..read more

Why The Mill does not have Female Elders

There is no doubt we live in a day and age where simply discussing doctrinal matters of leadership; one can quickly be charged with being misogynistic. Unfortunately, that term misogamy  is tossed around quickly distracting from fair doctrinal discourse with the issue at hand, can women serve as elders [or pastors]. The answer is straightforward, no. Some will be offended by this, but that is the answer.  Many denominations in Canada, such as the Anglican Church, the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, the Presbyterian Church, and the Canadian Baptist of Ontario and Quebec, have ordai ..read more

Enough! Stop Being a Collaborator.

It has been seventy-seven years since the end of the second world war. The generation that remembers the sacrifice is getting older, the veterans are almost gone and the new generation has a shallow understanding of all that went down.      Many remember Nazi Germany by the odd picture, and some can recall who Adolf Hitler was, but what about the collaborators? Nazi collaborators were those who worked with the Nazi party; some committed war crimes and crimes against humanity and even took part in the Holocaust. Not all held a gun, nor did all participate in genocide – some ..read more

Lord, Send us true Prophets.

The Christian church in Canada has its share of academic men who can exegete the Hebrew and Greek in providing a proper sound exposition of God’s word on Sunday morning, but something is missing – the prophet. In Ephesians chapter four, we read how the church has specific offices. He gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, some as pastors, and some as teachers (Eph 4:11). Granted, we have preachers who are sound teachers, but unfortunately, we also have some pastors who are disasters. They operate in a pseudo spirit that appears to be Christian on the outside but full of ..read more

Course Corrections in the Local Church

There is an old saying, “pride is like a bad haircut; everyone can see it except you.” Naturally, if someone looks into the mirror, one would see their hair, but the reality remains that many walk around blind to their pride. No better example of pride is the area of feeling outside the need for rebuke or correction. We live in a day and age where people define what is right or wrong by their standards. They define what is acceptable based on their ideology; unfortunately, this is found within the Christian church and in some congregations has gone unchecked. In their attempt to gain large nu ..read more

How many people enjoy cherries? Eating them as is or baking them into a pie makes for a good snack. However, did you know that eating cherry pits could kill you? Jesse Ferreras of Global News covered this reality in 2017 when he shared the story of a Lancashire U.K. resident cracking the pits with his teeth and ingesting three of them, sending him to the Hospital. The report shared the pits contain a compound called amygdalin, when digested, converts to hydrogen cyanide (Read the article here). Interestingly, something that appears good and tasty could cause a lethal outcome. Theologically sp ..read more

The Craftsmen of The Trade (Response to Rick Baker)

Yesterday, July 15, 2022, I released an article titled The Craftsmen of their trade. The article addressed the attacks and criticisms coming against the faithful churches that remained open and in defiance of the government’s overreach between 2020- 2022 and currently, with some remaining in effect. The attacks during the lockdowns were from the men who complied with the government’s requests. Some were in vocal or written opposition then, and now there is a resurgence of these attacks and criticism. Dr. Rick Baker took the opportunity to challenge my article on a Facebook forum in which I en ..read more

Over the past several weeks, there seems to be an increased level of voices in opposition to pastors who faithfully kept their churches congregating without restrictions during the 2020-2022 government-mandated lockdowns. The article would be exhaustive to overview all the attacks taking place but Google would provide adequate listings. Regardless of who the pastor or aggressor may be, they all appear to share one common characteristic, they are the zoom church warriors. These brave men locked the church doors and turned people away. These men who hid in their studies are emerging as the voic ..read more

The Youth Pastor

To the Youth Pastor, Youth pastor, you do not know me, and we have never met, but I am the man who was at the theme park the same day you were. I stood back and observed you. From a distance, you looked like a twenty-year-old with your flat-brimmed hat, stylish t-shirt and pants that needed to be adjusted. But up close, your face showed your age, with the appearance of wrinkles and a look of absolute exhaustion. Trying to be hip, relevant and cool – but looking more like the fool to others. Please do not take this as a negative insult, as I understand. You need to engage those youth that are ..read more

Reality Check for the Canadian Christian

The Christian church in Canada is facing many threats. These threats are not simply due to the Liberal party of Canada cooperating with the New Democratic Party to pass sweeping legislation that attacks the fabric of historic democracy Canada has enjoyed for decades. Instead, the threat rests in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and within the professing Christian church itself. Let us look at the second threat for a moment. For decades, apostate teaching through most pulpits across the nation has left most churches too weak to stand. Regardless of the denomination ..read more
