THE landslide victory the UPND has scored by sweeping all the local government by-elections is a phenomenal sign that Zambians have endorsed President Hakainde Hichilema for the 2026 general elections, Cornelius Mweetwa has said.

THE promotion of Lieutenant Colonel Innocent Mutinta by President Hakainde Hichilema has sparked an uproar in the Zambia Army and other defence wings with many describing the elevation as not on merit but tribally inclined.

THE Lusaka Magistrate Court yesterday heard how Lusaka businessman, Francis Muchemwa, was allegedly making a declaration of no return to the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) in his two companies on pretext that the companies where not making profits.
According to a document named Tax compliance status report presented in court, Muchemwa allegedly failed to pay tax to ZRA despite making profits.

EXPELLED Matero Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament, Miles Sampa, has been accused of allegedly going to bed with the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) for money.

THE Director of Public prosecutions (DPP), Gilbert Phiri, has appealed in the Lusaka High Court against the acquittal of Patriotic Front (PF) vice president, Given Lubinda.
Lubinda was acquitted on April 18, 2024, in the Subordinate on four counts of possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime contrary to section 71 (1) of the Forfeiture of Proceeds of Crime Act No. 19 of 2010, of the Laws of Zambia, the charges he denied.

THE Christian Churches Monitoring Group (CCMG) has urged the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to enforce the Electoral Code of Conduct through swift and transparent investigation of violations as an election assessment indicates malpractices in the run up to ward by-elections in parts of the country.

PROFESSOR Geoffrey Lungwangwa says the cry of hunger and the high cost of living will go if the government focuses on production as goods and services will be affordable to many Zambians.
