The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reports that it’s continuing collaboration with Big Tech concerning the use of biometric surveillance technology and the development of digital IDs for airplane passengers. On its site, the TSA revealed that its officials traveled to California recently where they met with representatives of Apple and Google to talk about continuing work on implementing digital ID on people’s phones. Two veteran security experts are launching a startup that aims to help other makers of cybersecurity products to up their game in protecting Apple devices, reports TechCrunch. Their startup is called DoubleYou, the name taken from the initials of its co-founder, Patrick Wardle, who worked at the U.S. National Security Agency between 2006 and 2008. Apple has released the third public betas of macOS Sonoma 14.5, iOS 17.5, and iPadOS 17.5. Public betas are available on Apple’s Beta Software Program website.  Just remember that beta software is unfinished software, so proceed with care. Apple does public betas in order to increase the size of the pool of testers. Frank Casanova, a senior director leading product-marketing efforts for the Apple Vision Pro, has retired, reports Bloomberg.
