If there’s one form of confrontation that has existed since the beginning of time, it’s the duel. Pistols at dawn, swords or sometimes even just fisticuffs… man has always confronted man to prove a point or settle a squabble. However, duels were very different from country to country, and evolved over the years. Plus, they are present in other environments than sports, such as politics and literature (Harry Potter vs. Voldemort!) The Army Museum, not far from our hotels, takes a look at this very particular type of confrontation, a one-man battle, in its new exhibition. Authorised or forbid ..read more

The Quai Branly Museum, close to our hotels, would like to tell you all about the main temple of the Mexica Empire (1325-1521), following research conducted under Mexico City in 1978. In the exhibition Mexica – Offerings and Gods at the Templo Mayor, articles found during the digs are being shown in Europe for the very first time. When the local electricity company was digging under Mexico City in February 1978, they didn’t expect to find remains of the ancient city of Tenochtitlan. It was an important discovery – archeological excavation continued for the following fifty years, revealing i ..read more

Paris’ Fashion Museum has a new exhibition of the famous Italian photographer Paolo Roversi, with 50 years of iconic imagery on view – the first ever Parisian exhibition of his work. Born in Italy but a Paris resident since 1973, Paolo Roversi created his own style of fashion photography over the years, using odd colours (thanks to innovative development techniques), blurring effetcs (from long exposures) and a hybrid of black & white and sepia tones that make his work unique. You probably know his photos from the biggest fashion magazines, showcasing the most famous models wearing cloth ..read more
