The Art Of Slow Living

Being a highly energized person who speaks fast, walks fast and has worked in a high-speed pace environment for over a decade, I identified myself as a hyperactive person. I thought it was an excellent quality to possess. However, through experience, I understand being on the go and rushing through my days wasn't healthy and shouldn't be encouraged or celebrated. In this post, I will share what I've learned to do the exact opposite of multitasking, "getting Sh** done," and the benefits I've found firsthand. As time passed, I grasped identities were just labels. Labelling yourself is futile an ..read more

Your Identity is limitless

It's easy to get so caught up in being a mother and feeling like you are just doing all you can to stay another day afloat, I see it in so many of my peers and friends who identify themselves as a Mother, and there isn't much space for anything else. Spiritually speaking, we are so much more than a single label of any sort. We are infinite beings of light here for a grander purpose. Yes, some people are delighted to be a mother raising their children, and maybe that IS their purpose in this lifetime. Still, we are such complex and multifaceted beings, believing you fit into one category or bo ..read more

This week's post is a juicy topic I felt drawn to speak about. Those who have been part of my spiritual journey know well that there is no shortage of inspiration and motivation on the internet these days. When you are seeking to learn, it's in every corner of your waking moments. I've experienced firsthand this accessible knowledge. I've read countless books and attended workshops and seminars with temporary change and minimal lasting results. I have learnt through personal experience when you seek to learn without implementation and practice, you do not change, and all this knowledge is jus ..read more

Motherhood & Meditation
Susan Nguyen

I have always been an advocate for meditation and given credit to the consistent practise I've cultivated of daily sessions through the years. As a result, I am much more calmer and grounded in situations that once brought me anxiety. Even in stressful situations, I can view the problem with a higher perspective. Easily reframing my mindset can be achieved with a consistent meditation practice. Since becoming a mother this year, my complete self-care practice has been thrown out the window, unfortunately, and I can feel the change and impact of my routine. For the last 6 months, I have neglec ..read more

Eradicating Guilt

Since embarking on my self-awareness journey, I noticed guilty thoughts arising more frequently than I'd like to admit. From feeling guilty, I should be doing something productive when having a moment of breathing space to feeling the pull of guilt leaving my child to play alone when I do chores. It's endless! I felt called to write about it today because many other people must have the same feelings if I am feeling it. I thought I'd share some tips to eradicate guilt and nip it in the bud through mindful and intentional self-talk guidance. I have seen great results, and I hope you do too.&nb ..read more

A Grander Perspective
Susan Nguyen

I have written about impermanence in previous posts before. Still, I felt called to share some perspectives I have learned lately.  Any feelings of despair or struggles about motherhood daily dissipate when I remember how temporary life is. It reminds me how fragile this life is as I gaze at my loving daughter and see how precious, fresh and new this sweet girl is.  As we are introducing solids into her diet, she has been having eczema patches and feeling itchy all over. It brings a new layer of frustration to me as her mother and seeing how uncomfortable she is. My lesson here remi ..read more

Slow Progress

For many years now, since I turned 30 (that was six years ago, gasp!). I had this preconceived idea that I needed to be successful or be somebody important by 30. Being Asian and having it drilled in me if I wasn't a doctor, engineer, or business owner, I was a complete failure. My parents had significant expectations I couldn't uphold. I was never academically competent, nor did I enjoy school, so I thought I wasn't good enough most of my life.  Those of you who have been following my journey will know, when I started to take an interest in spirituality, it was in 2017. I was going thro ..read more

Awareness of Judgment
Susan Nguyen

Today’s post is dear to my heart, and I have been personally working on it this past year. Self-awareness is the essential asset someone can possess, in my opinion. Since becoming a mother this year, I have realized that many false judgments about motherhood and children. For example, I was never the type of person who loved children and enjoyed being around them growing up. So when I saw a child cry hysterically or misbehave, I’d have all these judgments about how the parents don’t know how to discipline their kids. I know now that children will be just that and are unpredictable and don’t a ..read more

Awareness for Mamas

I thought I knew what busy was until I had my daughter. Juggling motherhood on top of all other tasks is another challenge I never experienced nor understood until now. Being a mother is hard work. It's rewarding, frustrating, exhilarating, exhausting, and perfect happiness incomparable to anything I have experienced.  Self-care is a necessity, something easily overlooked if you aren't aware. It's so easy to label yourself as a mother and lose your identity. The things that once brought you joy, hobbies, and interests are at the bottom of your priority list because it's filled with child ..read more

Why you need to practice Gratitude
Susan Nguyen

Gratitude has been a practice I have upheld for years now. Writing what I am grateful for every day without fail. Since becoming a mother I haven’t been able to prioritize this practice but the years of work have left an imprint in my life and I witness myself feeling grateful for things, people, and situations all the time. I share this with you because I hear people having so many excuses why they cannot do this practice because of time etc. but I’m here to tell you, practicing gratitude doesn’t have to take up any extra minutes in your day. It’s a feeling you cultivate so aim for more of t ..read more
