When it comes to shirts, we automatically think white. But blue is just as versatile. You could opt for a classic blue stripe, a solid blue tone or even a style with an edgy shape. I hopped on over to Superbalist to explore more options. Classic Blue Button Down I love the classic styling of this light blue structured shirt, R301 by Edit (BUY). It features all the classic shirt details but has a slight puff sleeve detail that adds an interesting twist to the styling. Subtle Stripe The subtle stripe on this style, R599 by Mango (BUY) adds a point of interest. This shirt is made using 50% cot ..read more

5 Cool Styles of Hats for Summer

I do love hats but tend to wear them more during the cooler months. This is something I’m changing, given that hats not only up the style ante, they also protect the scalp and skin from damaging UV rays. Here’s a selection of some of my current favourite styles of hats from Superbalist. STRAW HAT Any hat made of straw falls into this category, but it’s worth a mention because straw hats are A THING for summer. Style-wise, it can include everything from a Panama style or floppy style. I love this one from Superbalist R260 (BUY) which has an extra-wide brim for sun protecti ..read more

Calvin Klein remains one of the world’s most celebrated brands thanks to the way they elevate everyday essentials to globally iconic status. Founded in 1968 by Calvin Klein and his business partner Barry Schwartz, today the brand has solidified their reputation as leaders in American fashion, thanks to their clean and uncomplicated aesthetic. Calvin Klein was the first brand to cleverly use advertising to thrill and inspire their audience. Who remembers way back in the 1980’s when a young Brook Shields provocatively proclaiming that nothing gets between her and her Calvin Klein jeans? Below a ..read more

I love jumpsuits because they work really well for my frame. I’m on the tallish side at 5’8 (1.73 meters), have long legs and a short upper body. I find most jumpsuits – if they’re a solid colour or pattern – elongate the body, no matter your height. The Jemima Jumpsuit in Khaki R1,450.00 (BUY) by Kinda is elegant, sophisticated and fun. I love the design details like the functional front zipper and collar that slightly rounded. The big, billowy three-quarter lantern sleeve that’s loosely elasticated allows for ease of movement. There are front and back pockets, and the style is elasticat ..read more

I can’t get enough of this “Arniston” dress from Kinda Clothing R1,450 (BUY) The style is perfect for all and any occasions. The cut is incredible and would work for most body shapes, although those on the shorter side may need to wear heels or consider taking them hem up a few centimeters. For perspective, I’m 5’7 (1.73cm) and I can wear it with flats, but the hem literally sits 2cm above the ground. The maxi style is given a sexy twist thanks to the knee length slit up the front. I also love the V-neck that shows a hint of cleavage, along with the slightly elasticated front detail that ad ..read more

My Black Friday Wishlist

I’m curating my Black Friday wishlist and thought I’d head on over to Superbalist to explore more. There are a few items that are top of mind this year. I desperately need to replace my walking trainers – they are literally falling apart! I also need a new swimsuit but am specifically looking for a style with long sleeves & a high neck to protect my skin. In terms of décor, I need a new ottoman because my beloved 21-year-old one has a broken leg I cannot fix. And, as always, I can’t resist a new dress. I think it’s an addiction, but EVERY SINGLE SEASON I find myself buying a new style of ..read more

A beautiful, full-length orange dress by Elrico Zarr inspired by the colours of the Esthederm Adaptasun range I recently attended a lovely champaign brunch with Esthederm – a French skincare brand who develop products that work in synergy with the skin’s biology. I started my fitness journey about 6 years ago. As I’ve become healthier and fitter, I’ve come to realise how important it is to invest in good quality activewear that’s engineered to move with your body. I’m also passionate about supporting local brands and when I heard about JUST BREETHE, I was super keen to put some of their activewear to the test. JUST BREETHE are a local athleisure brand based in Pringle Bay on the journey of “Making Things Better”. I was struck by this paragraph on their website: ‘Okay’ has become normal, acceptable and ‘good enough’ “It does the job”, “It’s all I coul ..read more
