L is for Love Written by Atinuke Illustrated by Angela Brooksbank Published by Candlewick Mom's Review L is for Love brings a smile to the reader's face as a litany of L words traces a family's activities together. Evocative illustrations bring to life the sparse text of "L is for lolling...L is for lace." Readers will feel the companionship and joy in one another that the characters obviously experience. While L is for Love is released in advance of Valentine's Day, it is a testament to the enduring power of familial love ..read more

Your Island, Your Forest, and Your Farm By Jon Klassen Published by Candlewick Mom's Review Your Island, Your Forest, and Your Farm are all adorable bedtime board books. The way the narrator addresses the reader and personalizes every item in the story evokes a comforting intimacy where the reader (listener) feels a connection to the setting and sees that it is indeed time to go to sleep. Why everything has eyes, I'm not totally sure, and that's not totally to my personal taste, but it does help show that everyone is sleeping and it is Klassen's beloved to style. This Klassen trio is endear ..read more

Murder in Berkley Square (The Lady Worthing Mysteries #3)By Vanessa Riley Published by Kensington Mom's Review This series just keeps getting better and better! I absolutely loved this locked-in mystery where everyone trapped in the house by the snowstorm is a suspect and it is up to Abigail, her maid, her cousin, and her neighbor to find and stop the killer before they lose their own lives. With the bodies piling up as the snow does, I felt so tense reading - it was spectacular! Riley has written a very exciting mystery that is exceptionally crafted and then unraveled. Furthermore, interpe ..read more

The Matter of the Secret Bride (A Useful Woman Mystery) By Darcie Wilde Published by Kensington Mom's Review The Matter of the Secret Bride was a stellar installment in the Useful Woman series, and it is possibly my favorite of the three so far. The mystery Rosalind must solve is the theft of the marriage contract between King George IV and a Catholic woman predating his legal marriage to Queen Caroline of Brunswick. Rosalind's investigation was captivating, and her personal relationships - those secondary storylines - were particularly satisfying to see develop. I read Secret Bride in thre ..read more
