President Cyril Ramaphosa recognises individuals who have contributed and continue to contribute to the building of a non-racial, non-sexist, democratic and prosperous country by bestowing National Orders. They are South Africa’s highest awards. Eligible voters wanting to apply for a special vote have until May 3 to do so.
A special vote allows a registered voter to apply to the Electoral Commission (IEC) to vote on a predetermined day before Election Day.
Those applicable to apply for a special vote are registered voters who cannot travel to their voting station because they are physically infirm, disabled or pregnant, or are unable to vote on election day.

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in eThekwini Municipality will today boycott Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda’s state of the city address.
Kaunda is expected to provide a detailed account of the municipality’s performance at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban.
The IFP says its planned boycott is to express the displeasure with the current administration.

Former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has been appointed to head the African Union (AU) Election Observation Mission to South Africa.
South Africans will go to the polls next month in a hotly contested election.
The AU team is expected to observe the elections from May 21 to June 3.

The African Congress for Transformation (ACT) leader Ace Magashule has taken his election campaign to his birthplace in Tumahole, Parys in the Free State.
