Coffee Prepared By A Robot Barista
@ Jurong Mall, Singapore.
Video from: Andy Lim.
Drinking coffee is so popular with the world that in every nook and corner of any public place one could easily find a coffee house.
After lunch at a nasi padang corner [coconut rice, peanuts and fish with chilly] we were looking for a hot drink and chanced upon a little coffee corner. But it was different. The barista wasn't human.
With ease and robotic agility we watched in silence and were in awe as the coffee 'guy' prepared our brew. Perfect cuppa indeed and well-blended as ..read more

Siva Choy: 'Why You So Like Dat?'
50,000 vinyl copies sold.
https://www.nlb.gov.sg/main/artist-detail/music/11659-choy-siva
There are many moments when I find a rush going to my head; that there are generous people out there who write positively about others but yet do not reveal who they are. Old Bloke is one. Thank you for writing this piece about Siva Choy. Singapore 60s Music fans will ever be grateful for this gem of a write-up about him.
"There'll never be another Siva Choy. And the world will be a poorer place for it.
The most apt description I've ever heard of Siva was while jo ..read more

Ronald and his group of cycling friends in the 1950's when
Singapore was wild with unguarded fruit trees and empty roads.
"I found a key which happened to be a master-lock key..."

A delightfully enchanting tale from good friend, Ronald Ho, that may not move any young person's heart today. But I love it! There were no handphones, lap-tops, digital games or bubble-tea drinks but lots of good 'clean' fun, fruits and BICYCLES! Thanks Ron.
Andy, all kampong boys somehow learn to ride bicycles even though they do not have the ..read more

A reflection on Passion Week … Jesus, The Passover Lamb.
Recently, I recalled my time in Cambridge during Lent term commemorating Jesus’ last week on earth, also known as Passion Week. Although Pontius Pilate found Jesus innocent, he let Jesus to be crucified. He even gave Jesus a Latin title as inscribed in IESVS NAZARENVS REX IVDÆORVM, meaning “Jesus The Nazarene, the King of Jews”. One may commonly find INRI on internet images as given above.

Our former Singapore Prime Minister,
Lee Kuan Yew [LKY]
who passed away on 23 March, 2015.
Meeting Former PM Lee Kuan Yew In Person:
LKY was my mum's most favourite person; she would attend all his rallies and his talks... I was with her all along since 12 years of age. I was so excited when I had a brief encounter in a taxi and LKY was in his car driven by the chauffer, stopped by the traffic light next to our taxi.
He looked at me and gave me a wave with the most kindly smile, I shouted to my mum saying, "It's LKY there next to us!" ?
I never forget this brief encounter w ..read more
