What fun it was to be the photographer at the wedding of Quintin & Tasmin in Cape St Francis this weekend! Seal Point Lighthouse is situated on the South Eastern Tip of the African continent. You can't get a more dramatic place to get married, especially if the weather prediction for the weekend includes a monstrous storm. We were lucky though and took the gaps in the weather to create a beautiful product worthy of the lovely couple and location. Q & Taz have found one another. Apart from their flourishing and successful careers, they love adventure and are super athletes. That made ..read more

I have become more selective in the weddings that I do. For this family though, I will drive across the country and back if I have to. What a privilege it is to have been involved with some of the Bender Clan weddings. I look back at some of these weddings and see how the kids have grown. It makes me smile. To echo and copy the words I have said before: "Hierdie mense is mense wat jou wil deel maak van hulle.  Of ten minste, jy wil deel word van hulle". Loosely translated as 'they are the cool gang and they don't mind you standing with them and call you their friend' :) JG and Renette wen ..read more

Sometimes I only get to meet a couple for the first time in person on their wedding day. Sometimes I know them well ... I met Izaan a few years ago. Having moved a lot of my focus to the corporate sector, I did work for a company where she was my contact person for their staff portraiture. She numerously had to be the light model for the light set up and we got to know each other well. She told me about meeting this cool South African guy at a wedding, but who currently lives in the Netherlands. She showed me a picture and I joked with her that he must be her cousin. Before long, she had news ..read more

It is a privilege to share the Paarl Wedding Photography of Jason and Melody's Wedding this past weekend. We had so much fun! I wanted to give this lovely couple something unique and memorable for their couple shoot. Vibrant colours, an abandoned train station, and some magical moments gave us more than we had bargained for. From these images, one can learn how loved Melody and Jason are - and how much love they have to give. Their hearts are in the right place and they have a firm family foundation supporting their every move. These two are set for greatness. I am looking forward to staying a ..read more

Steenberg Farm Wedding Photographer Being a photographer really isn't a glamorous occupation. It is hard work and it doesn't pay much per hour for what you have to put into the job. But I can tell you - I am so rich. Rich with the amazing people I have met over the years. People that I surely wouldn't have met if it wasn't for this job. Some absolutely lovely people, I've had the privilege to meet numerous times. Catherine is definitely one of them. Due to the nature of my work, one gets to know people on a very deep level quite quickly. You get to know their history, their family situations ..read more

It finally happened! Micha and Marina got married in South Africa ... and it was beautiful! Covid restrictions and epidemic uncertainties caused this lovely Dutch-Swiss couple to postpone their Montpellier wedding by yet another year. They did so so that all their friends and family could plan ahead and travel to South Africa. Cape Town is very dear to them. This is where they met and where they love to spend as much time as possible. The Tulbagh valley was chosen for her beauty and March for the (hopefully) good weather. The whole weekend wedding celebrations had a distinctive African feeling ..read more

We made a deal with our 3 kids. From the month they are born, we put money aside for a trip when they turn 13. It is seen as a sort of initiation into the young adult world; to teach them about travel and to have an adventure together. Elih is my firstborn. It was to Iceland that the two of us travelled. "Our land of lakes forever fair below blue mountain summits, of swans, of salmon leaping where the silver water plummets, of glaciers swelling broad and bare above earth's fiery sinews --- the Lord pour out his largess there as long as earth continues!" As I scouted the Vergelegen Estate on the morning of the wedding, the beauty of this well-preserved piece of land touched me deep within. As the majestic trees' heads towered into the clear autumn sky, it kept its warm coloured hands to the ground. The heritage stood proud in nature's rich humbleness. It was the perfect setting for Ollie and Amy's wedding. Here they once wandered alone, trusted, held hands, got engaged, dreamed together and finally became one on the first Saturday in May. Thank you, Ollie and Amy, for making my job so easy. (Also to Lauren from Kelz & Co who did a great jo ..read more

The Pat Busch Mountain Reserve is geographically far removed from Lake Malawi, but on the weekend, it all came together with a wedding. A year ago, I had the privilege to capture this wedding in Malawi. Here I met bridesmaid Nicola and her fiancé Tiaan. They impressed me with their down to earth humbleness and willingness to assist with anything. These two are born to serve. They make the world a better place by just being themselves. How awesome it is that they found one another. In Malawi! This Northumberland girl just couldn't resist the big heart of this smiling South African boytjie. He c ..read more

"I am not so sure this wedding is going to happen," is probably not the best words a wedding photographer can tell the bride 40 minutes prior to the start of her ceremony ... I was joking of course, but hey, this wedding has been so long in the making, I really couldn't believe it was actually happening. Jen and I first exchanged emails back in Nov 2019. Our stunning engagement shoot was back in March 2020. They officially tied the knot in the Seychelles exactly 1 year ago. And here we were standing in the Cape Winelands on a hot beginning-of-autumn day, ready to finally have their wedding cel ..read more
