Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre has announced the next four 2024 creative residents to live and work in the heritage precinct in Ōtautahi, musician Phoebe Hurst being one of them.
This is the first of two creative residency programmes this year, and the programme is a rare opportunity for artists to develop their own work free of distractions. All four will create new work in their areas of practice while in residence for the period April 8 to June 16. The Pacific Music Awards Trust have announced details for the 2024 Pacific Music Awards, a milestone as the awards will be celebrating their 20-year anniversary.
The 2024 Pacific Music Awards will be held on August 29, at the Due Drop Events Centre, Manukau, Tāmaki Makaurau.
Entries are now open and must be submitted online through the official entry system, with the deadline of April 26. Entries for all 12 Pacific Music Awards entered categories are submitted online. NZ On Air Music’s first NewMusic Development (NMD) funding round for 2024 opened on February 29. It will also be the last NMD round for now, with NZ On Air Music taking time out to consult with industry about the best way to fund development level artists going forward.

Independent Music NZ (IMNZ) has announced 10 finalists for the 2024 Taite Music Prize.
The prize acknowledges outstanding creativity for an entire collection of music contained in one recording, and highlights outstanding albums from Aotearoa, released in the past year. The award is open to all genres of music and judged on artistic merit regardless of genre, record label or sales, with the winner receiving a cash prize of $12,500.

You can submit up to five images for consideration in the 2024 exhibition. Those photos can be no older than June 2022 and must be of NZ artists playing in NZ for entry consideration to the AV exhibition, which will run during Te Marama Puoro o Aotearoa | NZ Music Month (May 2024).
