Last June 2023, the Bayo team had the honor of presenting a traditional Filipiniana dress to the Czech Republic through Her Excellency Jana Šedivá, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Philippines. It will be showcased at the Litoměřice Museum in Litoměřice, a historically significant town as it is where our national hero, Dr. Joze Rizal, and Austrian teacher Ferdinand Blumentritt, lifelong friends, once met.

Bayo opened a newly-designed store at Mall of Asia. Beyond a traditional retail shop, the space was designed to be a creative sustainability experience – “we wanted to translate our sustainability ethos not only through our products, but through the way we designed the store too,” says Bayo co-CEO and Chief Creative Officer Anna Lagon. In honor of Buwan ng Wika, we’re paying tribute to Baybayin, a script from our earliest ancestors. “Baybayin” comes from the Tagalog word “baybay” which means “to spell.” All in all, the alphabet has 3 vowels, and 14 consonant-vowel characters. In 1999, baybayin was preserved in the official Memory of the World Register of UNESCO.
A brief history
There are many theories about the origin of Baybayin. Scholars have noted its similarities to the Kawi script of Java Indonesia, Cham script of the Champa Kingdom (now modern-day Vietnam), both of which are rooted in ancient India. Geographically ..read more

One of the best things about personal style is how it’s a journey; we grow and our fashion sense comes along with us – it’s an exciting evolution. But, there is a big downside to this that is the inevitable wastefulness. We end up throwing out clothes that we’ve outworn and outgrown.
Thankfully, there’s growing awareness around this issue. There are more innovations to break the wasteful cycle for both fashion-makers and consumers alike. We believe that fashion itself isn’t inherently destructive – we just need to revolutionize the way we think of it by advancing towards sustainable models.

In the Bayo Foundation’s effort to move towards a farm-to-fiber model, we’ve discovered many fascinating worlds of local, natural and sustainable production – one of which is sericulture. Sericulture is the process of farming silkworms. Learning about it is uncovering the magic that happens when nature, farmers, scientists, government workers, and business people join hands. Our story with sericulture starts in Barangay Cuba in Benguet, up in the mountains of Luzon.
The Sericulture Process
Sericulture starts with the cultivation of Mulberry trees, the leaves of which are the silkworm’s food ..read more

Trends come and go but there are styles that stay forever. We love looking to the past for inspiration, particularly to traditional Filipino looks, because the designs don’t concern themselves with being trendy. These are styles that are still relevant today because they’re so true to our culture and identity.
Today, we’re exploring silhouettes from traditional Filipino fashion that have lasted through the decades, and should therefore, take up valuable space in your wardrobe.

Sale season is one of our favorite times of the year. Nothing’s more exciting than diving into racks of clothes at marked-down prices. However, it’s easy to get carried away and overdo things. When the thrill ends, you can be left with feelings of guilt and buyer’s remorse.
Fret not – there is actually a right way to do sale season shopping. You can take a more mindful approach. Here are some of our best tips to keep in mind:
Review your closet
Start the sale season by doing a quick (but thorough) review of your closet. See what you have too much of and what you’re lacking. Evaluate wh ..read more
