12/4/2024 With the Autumn School Holiday break about to kick off its nice to finally see a bit of nice weather, the wind and rain event that we have just experienced over the past week has been far from enjoyable and it has made for some very testing fishing conditions! On a positive note, there are loads and loads of fish on the move now and the fishing forecast is looking amazing! One of the species that has well and truly started its annual spawning migration is one of my personal favourites, the good old Bream. We are seeing some really nice fish down around the Co-op and along the rock w ..read more

Report supplied by Mal McKinlay 21/3/24 Well! There has been a lot of water under the bridge (literally) since my last report. In fact for the last week of Feb and the first 3 weeks of March another 200mls of rain has been recorded in my rain gauge at home. In some parts of the Maroochy catchment the falls have been much higher, up around 400mls. So just as the river begins to clear, more rain, more runoff…more colour. The good thing to come out of this for all the whiting fishos who fish the lower reaches is that the whiting who usually disperse throughout its length and breadth have been fo ..read more

15/3/2024 We have definitely entered into Autumn now and we are beginning to see an obvious shift in some of our fish species, particularly within the estuary. Up until recently, Flathead have been very easy to find and catch for both bait and lure anglers, however, this week has been very difficult for anglers chasing a feed of Flatty tails with anglers commenting that they either can’t find any fish at all or that they can only find small, undersized fish. This change is not unusual for this time of the year and you will find that the Flathead fishing will start to get better and better fur ..read more

Report supplied by Mal McKinlay 16/2/24 Rain, rain, and more rain. On my rain gauge at home for January we had 700mls and in the first 2 weeks of February we have had another 200mls with no sign that it is going to let up. I have never seen the Maroochy and the Mooloolah rivers run so fresh for so long since I have lived here for the past 17 years. I paddle the Mooloolah River 4 or 5 times a week on my Ocean Ski and the sour smell of the water towards low tide is very noticeable. Imagine if you were a whiting or even a scavenger bream trying to survive in this stinking brown mess, particularl ..read more

16/2/2024 Anglers in the Great Lakes area have had a bit of a frustrating couple of weeks, our weather has been all over the place which has made getting out for some consistent fishing very difficult! Those that have read the weather forecasts and managed to pick the nice windows have still found plenty of fish both inshore and offshore so with a bit of luck the NE and SE winds will give us a bit of a break so that we can all get amongst some red-hot angling action over the weekend! Our amazing estuary is still by far the best angling option and is fishing very well for just about anything y ..read more

February 15th 2024 Well we had to wait for the weather but a few good days and fishing was good whiting around the chan banks is slowing up and they will probably move onto the banks and further into the channel , plenty of boats catching plenty.(i just wish those scale bags were never used).there are a few tiger squid showing up and a few small black king fish in the whiting grounds as well. The spotties are in but small schools and not staying up for long and the reason is they are eating herrings and razor pillies and not blue bait or white bait i don’t know why as the schoolies are eating ..read more

Online store • • Facebook ____________________________________________________________________________________ 12/1/24 The offshore scene is the talk of the town as is usual at this time of year, the Port Macquarie Garmin Golden Lure has been the focus for the week. To date catches have been hot and cold, with the odd black marlin in close, a few sharks, whilst wider out has produced good numbers of striped marlin and mahi mahi. Fingers crossed the final days of competition will see better levels of action.  For Port Macquarie angle ..read more

22 Quay St, Bundaberg Central | Ph: 1800 822 553 Supplied by Tackle World 15th of February 2024 Inshore Although we have not had much of a chance to head out with the unfavourable conditions lately the inshore reefs have still been fishing well in the small weather windows we have had. The standout fish have been the pelagic’s, a lot of tuna, mackerel, queenfish and trevally have been around. The school mackerel have been at times hard to get away from there is that many along the coast. When targeting these pelagic fish finding the bait has been key, start by looking at the pressure edged sid ..read more
