There has been a lot of confusion about the roadmap for Microsoft Dynamics GP.  Several years ago Microsoft shifted Dynamics GP from the Fixed Lifecyle to the Modern Lifecycle.  Some thought that meant the end of GP as soon as 2023.  However, Microsoft recently clarified their intention to support Dynamics GP on the Modern Lifecyle for “years to come”.  Below is a graphic from Microsoft of the future planned support of Dynamics GP on the Modern Lifecyle until at least 2028. Last month RSM posted information regarding the imminent deprecation of Basic Authentication, the effects of this change on GP’s email functionality, and how to prepare for the change. The Good News is that Microsoft has announced their intention to allow customers a one-time option to re-enable Basic Authentication on any required protocol, and the deadline for upgrading your Dynamics GP Oct. 1, 2022 has now been extended to Jan. 1, 2023. If you use the email functionality in Dynamics GP, here’s some IMPORTANT information you should know: History of TLS: As of October 2020, Exchange online no longer supported using TLS1.0 and TLS1.1 (Transport Layer Security) and was replaced by TLS 1.2. As a result of this security change, Basic Authentication is no longer a supported authentication method for connecting to Office 365 (Exchange). RSM clients experiencing issues with Mekorma should verify that the updated product keys are applied after renewal anniversary and before payments are scheduled.  Follow these steps: Open the Mekorma Product Registration Window (Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools > Setup > System > Mekorma Products Registration). Recently Microsoft announced security changes to Office 365 and Exchange Online.  Effective October 1, 2022, Basic Authentication protocols will be replaced with a new modern protocol to secure Exchange Online and hosted Office 365 from possible cyber-attacks.
