Great Britain stayed in the hunt for a medal the men’s Under-18 World Championship Division II Group A with a convincing 9-2 victory over Romania. Brynley Capps did well to set-up Jack Clarke for GB’s opening goal (10:19), but Romania hit back 21 seconds later as Botond Suveg netted at the backdoor following a turnover (10:40). After four wins from six matches in the group stages, GB were beaten in this morning’s semi-final but secured third place with an impressive victory over Jelgavas LSS in the bronze-medal game. Great Britain are through to the semi-finals of the under-16 men’s Riga Hockey Cup after picking-up seven points on day two of the competition to secure second place in the group. It means they will face Stockholm Golden Wings in tomorrow’s semi-final. GB won two, drew one and lost one of their four games today. Ben Clarke-Leach secured a nine-shot shutout as Great Britain dominated their 4-0 victory over Serbia at the men’s Under-18 World Championship Division II Group A in Poland. GB went ahead when Max Maslak set-up Brynley Capps who saw his shot saved but Jack Clare buried the rebound (16:41). Great Britain came from behind to beat Croatia 4-2 in their second game at the men’s Under-18s World Championship Division II Group A in Sosnowiec, Poland. The captaincy team has been named for Great Britain’s campaign at the men’s Under-18 World Championship Division II Group A in Poland. Archie Salisbury will captain the side with assistants Sebastian Mohr and Owen Bruton appointed as alternate captains. Sunday will go down in history as the UK held the world’s first professional IIHF three-on-three tournament. The four-team competition, which included professional players, took place at The Ozone in Bracknell in association with Intermotor. The IIHF chose the UK for the event and the three-on-three format is one they hope to take to the Winter Olympics.
