Images by Tilly Roberts Photo. After years of separation from family and friends (thanks covid), Ian and Alex decided to go large with their wedding day, as a really good excuse to celebrate with all their loved ones. And you’ll see from the beautiful images captured by Tilly Roberts Photo that this super meaningful, DIY wedding on a family property in NSW was totally worth the wait. Ian and Alex met when Ian was visiting Sydney and used Couch Surfing. The couch belonged to Alex’s brother Jordan, and Ian and Jordan went on to become great friends. When Alex moved back to her hometown of Bathu ..read more

Sand candles: new sustainable candles for your wedding
Less Stuff More Meaning Blog

Candles are a popular styling choice for wedding ceremonies and receptions, not only do they look beautiful on tables or around the ceremony space but they add extra ambience when the sun goes down.  Whilst they might look good there are a few logistical issues with traditional candles; they spill wax onto tables and floors as well as the vessel that holds them, they are a fire hazard with candles being easily knocked over by guests, and they aren’t always made with safe ingredients. We are delighted to discover an innovative solution to the traditional candle with our latest directory m ..read more

We first came across Nikki Davey when we saw her on the news for winning a 2023 AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award for her rural tech business Grown Not Flown.  Grown Not Flown is a digital platform and app connecting small-scale flower farmers and to consumers. The aim is to reduce “flower miles” (i.e. the carbon footprint of transportation) and to celebrate seasonal flowers rather than chemically treated imports. We were so excited by this amazing initiative that we got in touch with Nikki to ask her all about Grown Not Flown so we could share it with our community of ethical and sustaina ..read more

Jen and Joey: A grounded wedding in the Blue Mountains

As a couple who both felt their relationship was right from the first moment they met, Jen and Joey knew pretty early on that a wedding was in their future. When hearing about their love story, it seems like a deep, grounded, knowing feeling has driven their relationship from the start, and continued with thoughtful and value driven decisions for their wedding. One excellent decision was to engage Less Stuff, More Meaning member, Henry Paul Photography as their photographer!  What we loved hearing was that their proposal story didn’t begin with a ring, it began with a pre-loved dress. Being friends for seven years before they got together, Stephen and Hannah had cemented a pretty solid friendship before they decided to take the next step. When they thought about getting married, Stephen and Hannah wanted their wedding day to be just about them and their love. They didn’t want to feel like they had to worry about people having a good time. And although they aren’t religious, they still felt like their wedding should be somewhere they felt was sacred. So, what better place than out amongst the elements of nature at Namadgi National Park in Canberra, in an elopement ceremony ..read more

Less Stuff More Meaning Blog

This might be the ultimate diamond conundrum: is a lab created diamond or a mined diamond the best choice for you? You may have heard that a lab grown diamond is the most ethical option. They can’t be “blood diamonds”, they don’t need to be mined from the ground and they are identical in composition, appearance and durability to mined diamonds. Fair warning: The answers aren’t always clear cut. However, with a little inside knowledge, it’s possible to choose a diamond that aligns with your values. To find out how, we talk to independent jeweller, Fairina Cheng, who specialises in alternative ..read more

Ali and Tim were married in May 2021 at the While Hill Estate in McLaren Vale in South Australia, photographed by our amazing Less Stuff More Meaning vendor and ambassador Elise Mezner (based in Melbourne). We were pretty excited to hear that Ali & Tim read the Mindfully Wed e-guide early in the planning process, and that it was a huge part of their initial conversations about how they wanted to approach their wedding. They told us the most significant influence it had was in guiding them through questions they wouldn’t have thought about otherwise, and providing avenues for considering s ..read more

Photo credits: Lei Lei Clavey / Lei Lei Photography . What happens when a sustainable fashion blogger gets married? A carbon neutral wedding of course! Being a sustainable fashion blogger (let’s emphasise the word sustainable there!) we knew Britt wouldn’t be a slave to the hyped up fast fashion wedding trends. Instead she focused on beautiful, ethical, sustainable choices for her wedding and the result was a perfectly curated carbon neutral wedding. Married on their family’s property in Mornington Peninsula, Britt and Pete went for a classic look that really matched the vibe of the manicured ..read more
