In an effort to improve access to veterinary care for all patients, we have teamed up with a Canadian veterinarian-led company named Smart.Vet.  Smart.Vet allows you, our clients, access to Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) over the phone whenever our hospital is not open to take your call.  These RVTs can speak with you to determine the level of care that your pet requires, and will then work with you to schedule an appointment with one of their licensed Ontario-based veterinarians.  If your pet requires critical in-person care, the RVT will be able to determine t ..read more

Bagels Age: 4 ½ Adoption Story: My family has always had a family cat in the household. Once our cat Puddy passed away, after a long period of time, my family decided it was time to get another cat and that’s when Bagels came into my life. Bagels was adopted out to my family as a kitten from Kingston and we’ve been inseparable since. Favourite activities: If Bagels could sleep 24 hours a day, he would. He loves to curl up in a ball on my pillow and stay there for hours and once in a while will get up for some play time. Occasionally, he will have bursts of energy and run around the room like c ..read more

On behalf of all of us here at the Guelph Cat Clinic, we hope you and your family are all doing well despite the chaos of the pandemic. We wanted to touch base with you to give you an idea on our clinic reopening plans. As of right now we are remaining open for curbside drop off and pick up services only and currently do not have a reopening date set. Despite the fact that we have entered into stage 3 of Ontario’s reopening plan and most of our clients are vaccinated we have many constraints in our way. Our clinic’s layout is quite small and our exam rooms do not allow for appropriate physical ..read more

Staff Pet Spotlight: Snickers This installment written by Lyrel our receptionist. Age: 15 years! Adoption Story:  When a neighbourhood cat in Guelph had kittens Snickers was adopted out to my boyfriend’s family. I grew up without pets in my household yet I’ve always loved animals so I was thrilled to spend so much time with such a social and friendly cat. I’ve known Snickers since she was 8 years old and at 15 years now she is still a remarkably healthy and happy cat. Favorite activities:  Snickers was mostly an outdoor cat for the first half of her life. Since I live on a property o ..read more

This installment written by Michelene. Age: 10 years Adoption story: Lady was adopted from the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society. I had originally intended to look at another cat, but Lady demanded I looked at her! We formed an instant bond that has lasted throughout our relationship. Favourite activities: Lady loves catnip! She will roll and play with one of our downtown Guelph clinic’s special catnip pouches until she tears a hole in it. She also enjoys stretching out on the bed anytime the sheets are being changed – bonus points if she can get under the fitted sheet! Health issues: I have b ..read more

This installment written by Mason Age: 11 years Adoption story: Kiki and her brother were found in a shed at about 6 weeks old. Their mother was nowhere to be seen, but luckily for them a group of students in downtown Guelph studying at the Ontario Veterinary College in the area took them in. They nursed them until they were old enough to be adopted – from there I adopted her and our journey together began. Favourite activities: Her favourite toys are twist ties. She’ll entertain herself with this for hours, often carrying it around proudly when she’s done playing to show it off to the world ..read more
