George R. Anthonisen will have a solo exhibition of his work at the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, PA.  Titled “Meditations on the Human Condition”, the show features over 40 bronze sculptures, maquettes, and frescoes on view both inside and outside the museum.  The exhibition recognizes the Anthonisen’s significant career and presence in the regional arts community. On March 23, Wesley Wofford’s Sowing the Seeds of the Future was unveiled in Franklin, NC. The monument honors Na-Ka Rebecca Morris, a Cherokee woman; Harriet Timoxena Siler Sloan, a pioneer woman; and Salley, an enslaved woman; all linked by a specific piece of property on the Little Tennessee River in Macon County. In mid-May, Meredith Bergmann’s sculpture for the LexSeeHer Project will be unveiled. The monument, the first to celebrate women as participants in Lexington, MA – often referred to as the birthplace of American liberty– is a free-standing ceremonial bronze gateway standing 12 feet high on a circular granite plaza. Among symbolic animals and plants, portraits of 24 women from Lexington’s history are sculpted in bas-relief, with 12 different women and girls portrayed on each side. Visitors can stand in the central gateway and join hands with them. Oceana Rain Stuart’s sculpture is on the moon! On February 22, 2024, the lunar lander, Odysseus, touched down on the Moon’s south polar region via the Spacex Falcon 9 rocket.
