News on Atlantic Canadian beer, cider, and mead. The ACBB was launched by Greg Delaney in January 2012. After a year of hard work, Greg handed off the blog to Chris McDonald. Chris then roped in fellow homebrewer and beer lover Shawn Meek. Since then, Chris and Shawn have been continuing the work that Greg started, with the goal of sharing the latest and greatest news of the ever-growing beer..

Look at us posting late again. Is it because we were out enjoying all of the lovely beers the region has to offer us? Sadly, no, once again real life intervened. After a lovely week of weather (in Halifax, anyway) looks like we’ll be blessed with yet another rainy spring weekend, as is traditional. So rather than enjoying a cold one or two in the sun while you finish that yard cleanup, maybe you’ll be sipping a couple while you organize your linen closet and wash your walls instead. So it goes. The good news is, there’s plenty of new beers for you to seek out and try this week, so without furt ..read more

We hope everyone had a chance to enjoy the Eclipse Monday, whether you were in a part of the region to experience totality, or at least carefully observed the partial eclipse. If you’re anything like us, we’re already looking forward to the next ones occurring across the world, and figuring out how the heck you’re getting to Iceland or Australia
You’ll notice a lot of Newfoundland and Labrador content this week, but we want to let our Nova Scotian readers know that you don’t need to be envious, as our pals at Bishop’s Cellar have received a shipment of eight different beers from four different ..read more

Happy April to us all! Let’s hope those of us affected by the weather this week will be seeing the last snow and freezing rain to be falling for a few months. It’s looking like our region will be mostly free of cloud cover for this Monday’s eclipse, which is great for viewing, but does come with health risks. Remember to use your safety glasses up until the 2-3 minutes of totality, and immediately after, or else you can damage your eyes. And, just in case you weren’t sure, the difference between 99% coverage and 100% coverage is literally night and day! Those in big cities like St. John’s, Mon ..read more

Happy Thursday y’all! Thursday?? Yup! We figured we’d give ourselves a break from all of the beer writing tonight/tomorrow morning, so that we can enjoy a little break. While many breweries and your favourite taprooms and bars will be closed for Good Friday and/or Easter Sunday, it’s best to check their social media for the details on their opening days/hours if you are in need of an emergency four-pack or respite from the family. Plenty of new releases to tempt you today, so let’s jump right in!

What will we talk about to open up this post? The weather, of course! Spring has sprung and with beer events around the corner and new beer releases continuing, we are all here for local craft beer to spring eternal. Join us on a journey as we welcome the season of renewal with a pint in hand (while watching some March Madness basketball too). Honestly the NCAA Women’s Tournament may be better than the Men’s this year!). But not all news is good news, so let’s get into it.
After finishing last week’s post with sad news, we unfortunately need to start this week’s in the same way. This week Brig ..read more

[ed. Once again we’re posting our Friday wrap-up on Saturday. Real Life is a thing; whatchagonnado?]
Happy St. Patrick’s Day weekend! There are a lot of events going on at your local bars, pubs, and breweries, so make sure you show them some love instead of just going to the provincial liquor store and grabbing some Guinness! We won’t be listing all of the events and parties for Paddy’s Day (then we would never get out of here!) but be sure to check your local spots on social media to see if they have anything on the go. Let’s dive in!
We’ll start this week in Nova Scotia where the Craft Brewe ..read more

Here we are, we’ve leapt into March, and with March Break, Easter, and March Madness, it’s a month that flies right on by. But, today is International Women’s Day and while we want to say “why do we need this day? Isn’t everything equitable and fair across all humanity?” Nope! But we would love to see more Brave Noise, Pink Boots and women-supported and-led initiatives all year round, not just for the day. In other news, there’s a time change this weekend, just in time for March Break, so does that mean we get one hour less of drinking time? No way! We’ll keep this short and sweet, but we do w ..read more

Hello! This is an introduction to a weekly post about the craft beer industry in the Atlantic provinces. Below you’ll read about new beers, events, news and anything your loyal beer bloggers get their hands on through the week. Read below, share with a friend and we hope you get to partake in some of the new happenings in your area.
We kick off the week on PEI, as Village Green has a brand new release. NZ Haze is a azy IPA from the Cornwall crafter. At 6% it’s soft and pillowy, backed by Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealand. Adding Citra and Mosaic hops to the mix brings in fruity, tropic ..read more

Here we are most of the way through February and it feels a little like there’s some light at the end of the tunnel. With both the big sportsball game and everyone’s (least?) favourite Hallmark holiday firmly in the rearview mirror, a three-day weekend coming up for many, it feels like maybe we’re on our way to surviving another winter (unless you’re in Cape Breton, maybe, where they’re probably on the fence about that). Pull up a chair, grab yourself a pint, pat yourself on the back, and read on for all the news we could find in Atlantic Canadian Beer for this week.

We don’t know about you folks, but we blinked and somehow we’re already a third of the way through February; maybe last weekend’s snow did something to accelerate that. Speaking of which, many breweries in the region lost some business days to getting dug out, so bear that in mind when you’re picking up beer for the big foosball game this weekend (see more on that below). Also coming up soon is Valentine’s Day, which really has nothing to do with beer unless you want it to. Anyways, enjoy this week’s round up of beer news in Atlantic Canada.
