The McLaren Artura is green in more ways than one

It’s fitting that one of the signature colours for the Artura, McLaren’s latest mid-engined, carbon-fibre supercar, is an electric, almost luminescent shade called “Flux Green.” Bright colours are nothing new for supercars, especially ones as dramatic-looking as the Artura. But the green is symbolic here as well as eye-catching – a sign of the new McLaren’s credentials as a plug-in hybrid as well as a supercar. There is plenty here to please the supercar traditionalist. The Artura is low, long, and wide, with big 19- and 20-inch wheels and an aggressive stance. The front and sides are punct ..read more

Elkhart Lake, WI. (August 8, 2022) – A race-long battle for the lead was cut short for Pfaff Motorsports, as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship event at Road America ended under full-course yellow to cap off the eighth round of the season. Matt Campbell qualified the No. 9 Driveway Porsche 911 GT3 R second ahead of Sunday’s race, before handing over the car to Road America rookie Mathieu Jaminet with two hours remaining. Light rain hovered over the circuit for nearly the entire race, but Jaminet still managed to work his way to the top spot. The Driveway Porsche was in a prime posit ..read more

In case you haven’t noticed, SUVs are taking over the world. A vehicle class that was once for outdoor, off-road adventurers is now the vehicle of choice for more families than the four-door sedan. We all seem to love the raised ride height which makes getting in and out of these vehicles easier; the ease of accessing cargo areas through a big hatch instead of a trunk; and the image they help us portray: active, outdoorsy, the best version of ourselves. As SUVs have evolved, the compromises they used to come with have largely disappeared. Modern SUVs mostly drive like tall cars now, with non ..read more

Audi’s e-tron sportback really feels like something special

Audi’s e-tron, one of the original premium German electric vehicles, has a new sibling called sportback. Substituting a sleek, teardrop-shaped side profile for the more practical boxy SUV shape, the e-tron sportback sure is a looker, especially in S Line trim, with a blacked-out front “grille,” giant 22-inch wheels, and orange brake calipers. As you walk up to it, LED lights animate themselves into life; it looks expensive, futuristic, and at the moment, quite unlike anything else on the road. It is as lovely to drive as it is to look at. Even on those giant wheels, the e-tron sportback ride ..read more

Reminder: You grew up dreaming of a 911 Turbo

Pfaff Motorsports General Manager Steve Bortolotti explains why the 911 Turbo S is the ultimate 992 – not the GT3. With photos by Lucas Scarfone. Being “the racing guy at Pfaff” has always come with a subconscious pressure to consider the 911 GT3 the best Porsche road car in their lineup. Afterall, we’ve raced a variant of a 911 GT3 for a decade, so when someone asked, “what’s your favourite Porsche,” I always felt uncomfortably required to answer GT3 or GT3 RS to ensure I toed the corporate line. Seems silly, right? To feel uncomfortable admitting that a car – which is (and frankly always ha ..read more

Review: Mini Cooper S Electric

Of all the gasoline cars on the market that seemed natural to go electric, the Mini Cooper has to be at the top of the list. Small, zippy, and so at home in urban environments, a typical Mini has a short “radius” from home base, its life composed of short cut-and-thrust trips for which electric driving is perfect. Yet, other than an experimental test fleet the brand ran in California a decade ago, it took Mini until 2021 to introduce an all-electric version of its iconic hatch, with a 32-kW battery. For 2021, the Mini Cooper S Electric (for that is its full name) has had its Transport Canada ..read more
