"Desert friendly landscapes are sustainable, enjoyable, inspiring and resilient." If you have not heard this phrase before, you have really missed some valuable information! We swiped it from the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority website, 505outside.com. We encourage YOU to swipe some valuable information from them as well! We mention them often in connection with rebates on rain barrels, but there's SO MUCH MORE to their rebates and SO MUCH information that is very specific to selecting and caring for your landscaping in Albuquerque.
We are in the planning stages for a g ..read more

It's supposed to be this hot in July, and, in case you missed it, most of the articles we have published during the past few weeks have given you some great guidance about watering, plant stress, etc.
But this week, with one slimy exception, we are getting down to business.
The challenge, of course, is what could we say or do to convince you to get out in this HEAT? Well, deeds speak louder than words so here's what we decided to do:
It's time to turn some inventory into cash so we went absolutely nuts. SO nuts that we put most of our new specials on our home page.

We were searching for a way to relate our appreciation for our Gardening Angels this week, especially after our photographer commented on how great our display areas looked when he came to shoot pictures. Richard had taken four days off this week... a scary thing for most business owners... and when he walked in, came to the realization that the people who chose Jericho Nursery as a place to make love... visible... were doing something above and beyond a great job.
We recalled an interview with Greg Braden, long time New Mexico resident and world renowned speaker and author, in which h ..read more

For example, we struggled to come up with an image to represent that intriguing headline. So, just for the heck of it, we asked an AI program to give it a try. Did the robot artist nail it, or just create something that makes absolutely no sense on a website about gardening? You decide... but it got your attention, so mission accomplished.
The conversation started between two humans. Gardening expert Richard Hobson was explaining that we are in the most stressful time of year for gardeners as they identify problems with "THAT PLANT". You've heard it before but we'll say it again: It's most ..read more

Make your outdoor space an OASIS! We have a great selection of bougainvillea, mandevilla, hibiscus, banana, and fan palms to add some pop to the pleasant places you pause to partake of potations and ponder your plans.
Should unusual variegation
Be a cause for segregation?
If it's caused by bugs or blight...
It might.
But if it's something quite fantastica,

Looking awesome in your scenery.
Perhaps you are perplexed?
Did we forget about POP?

Week after week we have expressed our amazement and appreciation for such a cool May and early June. We still appreciate it, but it's over. We're going to hit the 90's for the rest of June and all of July.
What are you gonna do about it? WATER WATER WATER, and we will get more specific about that. Someone asked "What are the OTHER problems brought on by hot weather?" Think about your own health when you are dehydrated and stressed. EVERYTHING hits you harder. In the case of plants, it's bugs and disease that take advantage of the lowered resistance caused by INSUFFICIENT WATER.

Here we are in June, and we have yet to see ninety+ degree days.
And it looks like we won't hit 90 degrees until the middle of June. What a wonderful, if weird, streak of weather we're having. Normally, Memorial Day has marked the unofficial first day of summer... but not this year. SO, if you are wishing you had planted earlier, you really haven't missed your window. Not that it actually gets 'too hot to plant' but these cooler temps mean that your plants will be less stressed and won't require as much water.
TAKE ADVANTAGE of this opportunity, and TAKE ADVANTAGE of our biggest sale of the ..read more

We are wrapping up our two busiest months of the year, and we want to express our appreciation to our amazing crew of Gardening Angels. Long days of hard work and not many days off, and they just kept on providing the most outstanding customer service in town. We are also grateful to our amazing customers for your patience as we didn’t have quite as much time as we like to spend in genuine listening mode!
We continue to receive a lot of new stock. Fruit trees (quince, peaches, apricots, pears, and more), bedding plants, and 300 roses arrived yesterday! Full blooms and buds, and beautiful ..read more
