From kick-off, the first 10 minutes were extremely frantic, with Burnaby having the majority of the attacking play. But it was Harbourside that opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with Billy Bagiopolous converting on a breakaway. (Photo Credit: Hazel May) The new girls on the block, Burnaby FC, kicked off their inaugural League1 BC season with an impressive 3-1 victory over the visiting Harbourside FC at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex on Sunday. For the first 30 minutes, neither team was able to settle the ball and make any tangible attack, Burnaby appeared to have some control in midfield, but the ever-present Rebekah Van Dort, forceful at left-back, was able to deny any meaningful attacks by the home side. The script couldn’t have been written any better. New Jersey boy Brian White returns home, returns to the club he came through the ranks of, and scores a record-setting goal for his new club. Vancouver Whitecaps are back on top of the MLS Western Conference, and still Kings of Cascadia, after a dominant display down the I5 in a 2-0 victory against a Seattle Sounders side that lost their composure, lost their defensive sensibilities, and ultimately lost three points.
