Concert weekends for our 35th season are now booked, with Saturday evening concerts in Lewiston's Franco Center followed by Sunday afternoon concerts in Topsham's Orion Performing Arts Center. Who will win this year's Judith Elser Concerto Competition - joining Nathanial Hackworth (2018), Anne McKee (2020) and Mesa Schubeck (2022)? MSO's More with Midcoast outreach series continues with the final concerts of our 2023-24 classical season. Pianist Michael Bostock will perform on Saturday, May 18, at the Franco Center in Lewiston. Michael is a senior at Waynflete School in Portland, Maine, and a student of classical piano under Naydene Bowder at the Portland Conservatory of Music. To end its 2023-24 classical season, the Midcoast Symphony offers 2 performances of much-loved music taking the audience in a journey from the depths of melancholy to the heights of ecstasy. The program opens with maestro Rohan Smith leading the orchestra in "Quiet City" by Aaron Copland, featuring soloists Billie Jo Brito on English horn and Tim Kenan on trumpet. Unfortunately, it looks as if there is a lot of snow still to come. With it, there's going to be sleet and freezing rain. So, with deep regret, the MSO executive committee has voted, per our weather cancelation policy, and tonight's concert is canceled.   This is disappointing news. The musicians worked really hard on this weekend's performance, and we're sad that we will only get to do it once. Tomorrow's show will go on as planned. Tickets are now available for MSO's Opus 20 fundraiser and celebration!
