Fact-Checking @thefoodbabe The Food Babe recently shared a reel breaking down her thoughts on butter at the grocery store. This video gained quite a bit of traction on Instagram. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was time to do a little myth-busting on her butter opinions. Below are the six myths from the video and my response to them.  1) Everything is a Factory Farms Yea, that isn’t the case. 97% of dairy farms in the United States are family-owned and operated.  2) Cows are fed candy While that is not entirely wrong, that isn’t the whole story. Cows may be fed many unconventional foo ..read more

Does sharing about dairy online really make a difference? A question I have been asked and asked myself more times than I care to admit. Recently I did see the power of social media in a TikTok trend. Let’s go back to last year when the entire world was obsessed with a pasta TikTok recipe featuring tomatoes and feta cheese. To most people, this was just another trend that came and went. Have you ever wondered about the power that a social media trend holds? Time to break down precisely what that feta pasta recipe did for the dairy industry.  Here is the link to the original feta ch ..read more

Oliebollen: A Dutch New Year’s Tradition (Updated)

Happy Moo Year!! We made it through 2021, and I think that calls for a celebration. What better way to celebrate than with Dutch Oliebollen on New Year’s Day?! What are oliebollen? They are basically Dutch donuts, traditionally made and served on New Year’s Day. I make my oliebollen with apples. Some people refer to them as snowballs. Other people make their oliebollen with raisins, personally I think the raisins make the oliebollen heavier and not as sweet. I love the apple oliebollen with a little powdered sugar on top. You can also garnish your olibollen with cinnamon and sugar. PrintWith I ..read more

One of my favorite things to bake with the girls is lemon, Bberry muffins. And these muffins are perfect to make ahead for those grab-and-go breakfasts before heading to school or starting our day. Back to School With the back-to-school season right now this recipe will be a great addition to your mornings. The girls and I are notoriously running late in the mornings on the way to school. And breakfast is usually our biggest struggle. My girls like to take their time and eat slow. So sometimes, the best option is an on-the-go breakfast. With these muffins, it’s a great grab-n-go breakfast for ..read more

Today it hit me like a ton of bricks... IT IS SUMMER!!! I know I am a little late to the party. I think you start losing track of school breaks and the seasons start running together when you don't have kids in school. Also, this May has been unseasonably cold. We did get some much-needed moisture! Summer days with G and our baby kitten But today was sunny and 85 with a little New Mexico breeze (in other states, known as a 35 mph wind). Today is also the first day with our newly renovated backyard! My husband and I (more him than me) have been working on adding a little patio in our backyard ..read more

Chocolate Chip Cheesecake

This cheesecake is seriously amazing! Creamy, rich and chocolate-y. But I am not gonna lie, it tastes a lot better than it looks. I am definitely not a food blogger. And with this recipe, I realized how hard it is to photograph cheesecake. So don’t judge my photos! And don’t let the bad photography stop you from trying this recipe. This cheesecake has so much dairy! Butter, cream cheese, sour cream, heavy whipping cream, milk chocolate chips. It is pretty much a dairy farmer’s dream dessert. And in my opinion, all that dairy is what makes it so great! I like to make this cheesecake for parti ..read more

Gary’s Green Chile Queso Blanco

With Christmas around the corner, I thought I would share one of my favorite appetizers, Gary’s Green Chile Queso Blanco. Gary is my dad and this queso is amazing and addicting. This queso was inspired by the queso at one of my family’s favorite Mexican restaurants. This queso is full of cheesy goodness and spicy green chile. Why green chile? Well here in New Mexico, we are kind of famous for our green chile. And this queso blanco is one of the best ways to highlight not only our amazing Hatch green chile, but also our creamy cheese. You might not know this, but New Mexico has the world’s larg ..read more
