What fun this morning was! Ethan, Lauren and I discussed how we wanted their engagement photoshoot to feel. I knew I wanted to do a mix of medium format film & polaroid film for their session. You can see scans of those scattered in the blog post. They ended up choosing Mickey’s Coffeeshop and Bookstore as their first location. Mickey’s located in New Albany, Indiana - if you haven’t been you definitely should. It’s a spot that Lauren and Ethan go often, plus it’s adorable, so it was a great spot to start taking photos. I got there a few minutes earlier and sipped on a cortado which was d ..read more

This spring I took the Cooney’s family photos at their home in Louisville, Kentucky. We did a more candid-approach. I’ve done this “morning in the life” candid-style a few times now and can’t tell you how much it fuels me creatively. It’s because, if I were a mom, or a kid like Daisy or Stevie, I imagine this is what I would want to remember. I like to think of what memories must feel like from other people’s perspectives. I do this a lot when I’m taking photos. Today I felt inspired to write from what I imagine Stevie or Daisy’s perspective might be … a poem of sorts, so I included that belo ..read more

Occasionally, an artist will release an album that inspires me to do a themed photo shoot. While music has always been a big inspiration to me, it’s pretty rare that that I will have an album inspire me to do whole themed photo shoot. The only other time I that this happened has been when Taylor Swift released folklore. I felt the itch to take photos in the way that the music made me feel. I’ve blogged that photo shoot too. My friend Hannah Ours, who modeled for this shoot modeled for that shoot as well. If you want to check it out here’s the link.
I felt inspired by Kacey Musgraves new ..read more

Countryside Kentucky Wedding with Film & Digital Photos
Oh, this day is one I look back on with fond memories! Hannah and Neil are some of the kindest, dearest people. They had an intimate May wedding with their families in at Chaplin Hill. Chaplin Hill is a darling Bed & Breakfast in the countryside of Danville which is just outside Lexington, Kentucky.
Neil and Hannah wanted to embrace the candid photos. They didn't want do too many posed photos, which if you know me, is where I thrive as an artist. They also adore the vintage feel of film and added film onto their wedding package. A ..read more

Ever get let in on a secret? It’s exciting and I get the excited jitters every time somebody reaches out to me about a proposal. It’s a real blast trying to come up with ideas and plan how to surprise your partner with a proposal. As a photographer, I am not only excited, but honored every time I get to be apart of one.
This proposal was no exception. The location was the Speed Art Museum here in Louisville, Kentucky. I got a last minute call that Maxwell’s original photographer had to cancel. I was happy that I was available and able to step in! And I was even more excited after I heard more ..read more

Want to hear something funny? The first time I did a newborn photoshoot, I actually really disliked it and vowed I’d never do one again. The poor baby cried the whole time, I was trying so hard to get the “perfect” photos of the baby alone instead of naturally involving the parents. Well, that was almost ten years ago and I’ve learned a lot since then about newborn photos! They’re very different than other photoshoots, but I have come to adore them. Now I do a lot of newborn photo sessions here in Louisville, Kentucky and the surrounding area. Maybe you’re a current client of mine with a baby ..read more

I do realize that the title of this post is a bit contradictory … the fact that the words “outdoor boudoir photoshoot” are together is a contradiction in itself, as boudoir according to the dictionary technically means a woman’s bedroom or private room. However, words can shift and evolve, so bear with me here! The alternate title to this post would’ve been “Outdoor Nude Photoshoot in Red River Gorge"", and while I have taken nude photos outdoors, this one doesn’t have any. I’ve been requested to keep those private & will follow through with that promise!
Back to the post: something I ca ..read more

When Kate, a client turned friend, reached out to me with an idea to photograph a morning of her day, I was ecstatic to say the least. She’s a stay-at-home mom and wanted to have this busy season of life with her littles captured. These kinds of photos are the ones that mean more & more, the more time passes. The baby grows into a toddler, the toddler a kid — it’s bittersweet to photograph it happening and I can’t even imagine the feelings of having a front-row seat as a parent.
The girls started the morning with pancakes and goodbyes to dad. A walk through their Old Louisville neighborhoo ..read more

Last weekend Ali & Tyler got married and celebrated with their friends and family . . . boy, was it beautiful!
Tyler and Ali didn’t want to stress about their wedding, but you can tell that they put a lot of thought and intention into it. They really wanted to celebrate with all their loves ones, as it’s probably the only time they’d all be in the same room. Well, in this case, Ali and Tyler’s backyard! (Yes, their backyard is absolutely beautiful as you’ll see below.)
They started off getting ready together. Again, they wanted to feel laid back, so we didn’t set up a “first look”, I just ..read more
