The gardens at Whitehall Mansion are one of the loveliest wedding venues in Louisville and I’m so honored to have captured Jared & Caroline’s wedding day there last June. Happy anniversary, you two! From the moment I talked with Caroline, her personality shined right through the phone. She is so kind, vibrant, and makes you feel incredibly at ease. What an absolutely sweet soul. Jared is so clearly her perfect match being the stoic more reserved part of the pair.
Despite the June heat, their garden wedding at Whitehall Mansion was full of life, laughter, and dancing. Caroline’s first dance ..read more

Truman & Rachel: Upstairs Atlanta Rainy Fall Wedding
Weddings sometimes take me to new, fun places. This rainy fall wedding was an especially fun one taking me all the way from Louisville KY to Atlanta GA! Previously, I wrote about my relationship with Rachel in the post about their engagement session. I adore her and I adore Truman and so I adored this day! I was nervous about the weather, but in true wedding day fashion, everything worked out wonderfully.
Truman and Rachel planned such a fun day for their family and friends. These two are people people. They have their community and they ..read more

It’s life update time! If you came here from Instagram, then you know the news! If not, surprise! Our lives are about to get that much more chaotic, hahaha. Baby Johnson #3 is due to arrive in February 2023. We are all so excited and I don’t even know where to begin as a type.
First, I know this will get lost in the excitement of the baby, but today Matt and I celebrate 10 years of marriage. Wow! We’ve been married a whole decade and that is crazy to me. It has been an absolute joy being Matt’s wife for 10 years and to experience life with him. We’ve truly grown up together and I love that pa ..read more

Mitchell & Emily : A Purple (yay!) Carrick House Wedding in Lexington, KY
In November of 2011, I had the honor of photographing with Kirsten Butler Photography. I could gush about her forever, but she’s wonderful and who I hope to be when I’m older. <3 Love you, Kirsten! This particular wedding was a favorite for both of us. One, IT WAS PURPLE!!! I love purple and have probably annoyed Emily by saying how much I loved her colors. It was also at the Carrick House which is a historic home with a venue building attached. So lovely! And to top it all off, Emily and Mitchell were two of the ..read more

This session may win all of the sessions I’ve ever had for most fun. I’ve known Rachel for over 10 years, what?!? Crazy. We met very early on at Virginia Tech in the Marching Virginians. Go Hokies!! She’s one of my people and I love her dearly. When she told me about Truman and that she wanted me to photograph her wedding before they were even engaged, I said an immediate YES. I was waiting for the day when Truman proposed so we could officially plan all the fun things. Their Ponce City Market engagements was first on the list!
Not only do I love Truman and Rachel, but for this session, I got ..read more

Since having kids, it’s been harder for Matt and I to get away for anniversary trips. We really wanted to do something special for our 10 year anniversary, so with the help of Matt’s parents taking care of the girls, we were able to travel to New England! It was so hard narrowing down exactly where in New England we wanted to visit, but Portland, Maine won us over for our anniversary trip. It is so beautiful! Though, now I have a renewed desire to travel to all kinds of places in New England. We will for sure be back!
Matt and I are chill travelers. We don’t want a ton of activities planned. W ..read more

Kentucky Horse Farm Wedding
The weather is mentioned so much on my blog, but it plays a huge factor in weddings and sessions! But in all my years, I’ve never had weather like this. On September 21 I had my kids outside in bathing suits playing in a sprinkler. The next day, fall equinox, we were in jeans and sweaters with 70 degree highs. What? That has never happened before, but honestly, I love it. And it was just in time for this absolutely lovely Kentucky Horse Farm Wedding at AllDay Arena in Simpsonville, KY. Kyle & Christian’s engagement session at the farm was so beautiful and fun wi ..read more

Anyone in Kentucky knows the weather this summer has been crazy, so when I met Kyle & Christian at their local horse farm for their engagements, I didn’t totally know what to expect. Rain, ridiculously hot temperatures, it’s always a mixed bag. But not this day! It was literally perfect. Not too hot and full of beautiful sunlight.
Kyle & Christian brought their 3 dogs to the session. They ran around and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Christian calls them their “small dog army” and I love it! It’s so accurate. Jack, in particular, kept bringing me toys to play with him. It was so cute ..read more

Jake & Emma: Fall Olmsted Louisville KY Wedding
After having kids, so much of my business changed and blogging was an unfortunate casualty. I’m now finally getting back into it and I’m sharing some of my older weddings. These days were just as beautiful as others. My sweet, adorable *cough cough* needy children though have tied up a little time. But not right now! (She says as the kids start to wake up from naps… mom life!) The wedding I’m sharing today at The Olmsted in Louisville KY was exactly when Valerie turned 1 month! I have vivid memories of pumping in the car… in a dress! Mistakes ..read more
