Teaching a Two Year Old to Bake
Brian Eats New Hampshire

Having fun while eating cookies after baking them. This week I taught my daughter to bake! Kind of… I learned a lot more about myself than I did my daughter when I started teaching her how to bake. The first thing is, I really need to work on my patience. It was almost embarrassing listening to myself and how aggravated I got for certain things that both my daughter and wife did. I expect a lot and I shouldn’t. Emmalina only turned two last month, and I should be glad that she’s able to do and comprehend the things she does already. Oddly, things that might bother others; like letting her brea ..read more

My Apple and Blueberry Pie: A 6.5

Note: This isn’t a recipe/walkthrough. The start of the last pie crust I make from this recipe. I kind of shy away from the food critic label, for multiple reasons. We’re all food critics in our own way. So in some shape or form, we’re always judging what we eat, whether it’s out at a restaurant or in our own homes. I never have any intention on hurting someone’s business no matter how popular I may get with this brand, even if the food isn’t good. I know that if the food isn’t good, the lack of customers will likely be the biggest indicator of showing the owners and managers. Also, my opinion ..read more

Chocolate Chip Pancakes With Peanut Butter Sauce

So this is my typical pancake recipe which is mostly the Simple But Perfect Pancake recipe from King Arthur’s Baking Companion. That recipe calls for the following: 1.5 cups of flour, 2 Tbsp sugar, 2 tsp baking powder, 3/4 tsp salt, 3 Tbsp melted butter, 2 large eggs, 10 ounces (1.25 cup) milk, and 2 tsp of vanilla which is optional, but I almost always use unless I’m out. The only real adjustments I make are a healthy dose of cinnamon and nutmeg, as seen below and instead of regular milk, I use vanilla almond milk – as I do for almost all of my baking. The start of something truly amazing. Al ..read more

Jalapeños.

I don’t know when I took a liking to jalapenos. It didn’t take me long to realize that these can be put in or on almost anything. Pizza, sandwiches, chili, omelets, muffins with cheddar. Maybe I’ll be the first to make a jalapeno ice cream… A normal person eating jalapenos. Never mind, a quick search shows me that’s already been done. 1,000 variations. Oh well. Maybe I can find a place around here that does one and make a video on it. That search turned up a pineapple/jalapeno ice cream. No thanks. Another showed Mint/Jalapeno. That’d I’d only be interested in so I could troll some friends who ..read more

I fully realize it’s been a literal year since I wrote my last blog post. No seriously, look below. I’ve been busy with many things, as we all tend to get from time to time in life. I’m not here to promise that I’ll write a blog post every number of days (or weeks). My focus is currently on my YouTube Channel where I’m focusing on live streams. Shortly after announcing on Facebook that I’d promise to do another actual edited episode, I changed my mind and decided to focus fully on live streaming. There are reasons for this which I’ll get into in more detail. What’s important now though is that ..read more

Top Ten Tuesday: Video Games With Food
Brian Eats New Hampshire

No, you can’t get that pizza, but you can die trying! I love food, and I love video games. So it’s time to put together a list that combines these two loves. Whether your character is eating the food or throwing the food, video games have done some interesting things with cuisine. It wasn’t until today I had to really put some thinking into just how instrumental food is; outside of the whole eating it thing, in other venues. These days when most people think of food and video games, they really think of phone apps. Candy Crush, Fruit Ninja, Diner Dash, etc. These apps didn’t invent the wheel ..read more

Top Ten Tuesday: Chocolate Candy Bars

This is a picture of Reese’s pieces. These are great, they also don’t contain chocolate so they aren’t in this top ten. I had a candy bar earlier so I decided this should be the subject of my next Top Ten Tuesday. I decided to go only with candy bars that contain chocolate, I’ll do a non-chocolate (and obviously inferior) list of candy bars at a later time. 10. Milky Way Midnight – I’m a dark chocolate kind of guy, and this is one of the best dark chocolate candy bars out there. This is one of my favorite options with caramel and nougat in a market flooded with them. On a side note, there aren ..read more

Top Ten Tuesday: Talenti Gelato

These layered flavors are amazing. If you’re a purist for gelato and ice cream, that’s just too bad. When you’re done ranting about how the hardball era was better and return to 2019, try one of these. Until then, more for me! Also, these aren’t included in my top ten, so yeah. I was going to write a about a very popular ice cream brand for my Top Ten Tuesday today, but they recently decided to get a bit too political with a new flavor, so I decided to take my business elsewhere. Instead, Talenti, a great company which makes amazing gelato and sorbetto gets to be the winner. I’ll only be ranki ..read more

Top Ten Tuesday: Childhood Breakfast Cereals

I never understood the whole milk in the glass to pour into the bowl for your cereal. First, you’re creating another dish to wash. Secondly, that’s far too much milk, anyone can see it. I had this idea to do a Top Ten Tuesday and I was set to write this up yesterday until I heard that the first shipment of my book arrived at RiverRun Bookstore. It kind of fell apart after that. Anyways, here is your delayed Top Ten Tuesday. Today’s top ten is my top ten childhood favorite cereals. #10 Lucky Charms – Regular cereal, regular marshmallows. If it was described to me before I had ever tried it, I’d ..read more
