If We Were Having Coffee – Life Musing #15

If we were having coffee I’d start by saying thanks for sticking around. These past two years haven’t been anything like we could have predicted, and they certainly aren’t what you signed up for. When I first started writing and you first started reading, things were much more action packed. We’d chat about my adventures and the ridiculous access barriers I would face. I’d rant and ramble and have a good moan. Well I guess that hasn’t changed, even if the subject matter has. If we were having coffee I’d tell you that’s all about to change. I’m slowly getting back out there, and although I’m be ..read more

101 Things I’ve Done in 2021

Ye I know, you’re laughing at that title already. Thinking ‘well we’ve all been in a pandemic, half of that was in some form of lockdown, and she’s been semi shielding the rest’. Well if there’s one thing a global pandemic has taught me, it’s appreciate the small stuff. Because that’s stuff too. I’ve said before about disabilty kind of preparing me for a time of restrictions. Because it’s not just now for some of us. But let’s not get all gloomy and ranty. As we are on the cusp of saying farewell to 2021, hoping and wishing that 2022 has something good in store (just as we did at the end of 20 ..read more

As we come to the end of 2021 here is my penultimate My Year In Books post. We’re not done yet, there’s a winter edition coming soon. There’s also a list post coming soon, about the excitement I got up to in 2021. I did. We all love a good list, so follow, come back, or stay tuned for that. Let’s get to it… The One That I Couldn’t Escape From Silent Child – Sarah A. Denzil So last year I read The Magpie Trilogy, which was my introduction to Sarah A. Denzil’s writing. Enjoyable, fast-paced thrillers where each chapter ends leaving you wanting to read the next. They are easy reading and enterta ..read more

If We Were Having Coffee – Life Musing #13

If we were having coffee mine would be a hot chocolate. I’ve really got back into them lately (spurred on by something you’ll see later in this post), it is the season for it anyway. Gosh has it been cold! It snowed. Ok so, it was the tiniest bit of snow I’ve ever seen. But it was snow. Some parts of the country have had it bad, though, with power cuts lasting days. Do you remember that time we had ‘The Beast From The East’? I haven’t seen snow like that lately. If we were having coffee I’d ask if you’re dreaming of a white Christmas? Because Christmas is on its way. If we were having coffee I ..read more

It’s getting cold now isn’t it? We had real snow yesterday. Just a little, but it was still snow. What better to do with these wintery nights than to light a few candles and cosy down with a book. So, here’s the latest instalment of what I’ve been reading. You can also catch up with the rest of My Year In Books. The One With Many Stories The Keeper of Lost Things – Ruth Hogan Have you ever considered the significance of o lonely lost glove on a park bench, or a random coat button in the street? The lives they had before they were lost, what happened leading up to the moment they became a lost ..read more

Halloween Afternoon Tea – The Assembly House Norwich

This has been a long time coming guys. But here it is. An Assembly House themed afternoon tea post made it to the blog before 2021 was out. There was this cakeaway review beck in 2020 when the world turned upside down and the lovely people that make The Assembly House what it is gifted me this doorstep delivery. But this time, we are actually under a roof! That was the quote of the day as my friend and I laughed about how we’ve only seen each other in our gardens for almost two years. A sad hysterical little laugh, but you have to don’t you. Anyway, it feels like some normality has returned t ..read more

That Time I Didn’t See Ross Noble

I should be at the theatre tonight. Right now as I publish this post I should be chuckling so hard that my face hurts, as Ross Noble tells his surreal ponders in that excitable Geordie accent. Instead I’ve got my heated blanket on my lap, and the rubbish that is Saturday night entertainment is on the telly. You ‘Generation Z-ers’ don’t know what you’re missing. Saturday night telly was epic back in the day. The 90’s, when anything goes, there were people bashing each other with giant cotton buds while others tried to recollect a long list of items running past them on the most random conveyer ..read more

If we were having coffee I’d apologise for being AWOL, there hasn’t been much to talk about of late. And what there has would turn into a rant. That might be coming soon. I’ve been mostly reading, so nothing much has changed there. It’s been a reading kind of year. When you can’t go many places in person then why not go there in mind. If we were having coffee I’d tell you I just finished ‘The Humans’ by Matt Haig. My third book of his and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I won’t give too much away as my review will be coming soon (what else would I write about). He writes the kind of books that make y ..read more

It’s been a bit quiet over here of late. There’s not much to report, but there will be new coffee talk soon, so stick around for that. I have been reading, though. Quite the variety these past couple of months. Here’s my latest lineup, and if you missed the previous instalment head over to My Life In Books – 2021 (part 1). The One I Used To Relive My Youth Midnight Sun – Stephenie Meyer Yes I caved in to temptations and read the new companion to the Twilight Saga. As told by Edward Cullen. I read all the previous books before it was cool, when the paperbacks weren’t even a thing, let alone th ..read more

7 Things SMA Has Given Me

Today marks five years since I published my first blog post. It feels like only yesterday, and also feels like I’ve never not blogged. What did I do with my time before? What did I procrastinate from? Because as much as I do enjoy writing, I’m even better at finding other things to do while I think about writing. August is SMA Awareness Month. There’s been talk in the community about calling it SMA Pride Month. There’s Disability Pride in July. Which is great for coming together and celebrating humans and all they do. I’m proud of the person I am, but am I proud of SMA? Well I still struggle a ..read more
