April is National Volunteer Month, and it’s a great opportunity for us to acknowledge the extraordinary work our volunteers do year-round. Last year, 10,450 volunteers across the metro area supported our seniors through administrative tasks, food preparation, and of course, delivering meals. We’re so grateful for their dedication – Meals on Wheels wouldn’t be possible without them. We’ve heard many inspiring stories of volunteer drivers impacting the lives of meal recipients. In addition to delivering nourishing food, these volunteers provide companionship, find personal fulfillment, and some ..read more

Donors have helped us meet an increased need for meals that hasn’t let up since 2020. We couldn’t have done this without the support of our community. Seniors continue to face new challenges and need your help now more than ever. The cost of food has gone up dramatically, and many seniors on fixed incomes simply don’t have enough money to cover the cost of groceries and other expenses. In 2022, Meals on Wheels programs in the Twin Cities served 1,488,000 meals, and the number of seniors asking for help continues to grow. They turn to Meals on Wheels for assistance when they can’t put food on t ..read more

If you’re looking to get more involved with your community, now is a great time to learn more about volunteering with Meals on Wheels. As we head into the colder months, Twin Cities Meals on Wheels programs are looking for new volunteers to help with meal delivery. At the same time, many retired volunteers take a pause during the winter due to concerns about driving in the snow, or because they spend winters elsewhere. Some fami ..read more

This May, Gov. Tim Walz signed a comprehensive veterans affairs bill that included roughly $1 million over the next two years to provide home-delivered meals to veterans.
