AmeriCorps alum and New Hampshire native is tackling Texas’ housing crisis head on in his work through with Habitat for Humanity.
As the Chief Impact Officer for Austin Habitat for Humanity, Billy Whipple has shaped a 14 year career around his beginnings at the housing nonprofit and in AmeriCorps. He has also supplemented that experience with a graduate degree through the School of National Service program offered by UNH to former AmeriCorps members.

March 10-16 was AmeriCorps Week in New Hampshire, per proclamation of the Governor. We were proud to celebrate our members and uplift the work of our programs throughout that week and continuing forward into the rest of the month.
On Wednesday, March 13th, we gathered members together at the State House in Concord to hear from local elected officials, participate in a panel on civic engagement, and take a tour of the building. Our newest New Hampshire AmeriCorps program is the RISE Program, the Refugee and Immigrant Social Empowerment Program, hosted by IINE, the International Institute of New England. The International Institute of New England’s mission is to create opportunities for refugees and immigrants to succeed through resettlement, education, career advancement, and pathways to citizenship. We offer humanitarian relief, English language learning, employment, skills training, and immigration legal services to more than 10,000 people from 70+ different countries.

Manchester Excels is a partnership between Goodwill AmeriCorps and Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU): a 36-credit, 16-month clinical Master’s in Education program with a focus in secondary education STEM teaching and AmeriCorps service hours through a student teaching placement in greater Manchester schools.
