In Maryland, lawmakers have passed a bill to require movie theaters to provide open captions and it will be signed by the Maryland governor very soon. Once it becomes law, Maryland will be the second U.S. state after Hawaii to require open captioning in theaters. Gallaudet announces new disc golf course Here are two Deaf News briefs. The first — Gallaudet University announced that it is opening its new disc golf course today. It is a nine hole course that mostly spans across the university’s front area along Florida Ave NE with three of the holes on Olmsted Green. The course was designed by a former disc golf pro named Avery Jenkins along with members of the Gallaudet community. The course is D.C.’s first disc golf course with permanent baskets. Nice.
