The Great Scrambled Egg Debate
Lish Recipes

To milk or not to milk? That is the question and the great scrambled egg debate that occurred on a TikTok video I made called Ranch Scrambled Eggs. A quick recap, I was craving scrambled eggs one morning and went to the refrigerator to make them and I was out of milk. I saw the ranch staring back at me (no they really didn’t speak to me, see video) and thought what the heck, let’s give it a try, how bad can it be? It contains dairy which is what I like to add to eggs on a normal day and it has seasonings in it to put a spin on the flavor of eggs. I did it, I liked it and I don’t regret it. I ..read more

How I Biscuits and Sausage Gravy
Lish Recipes

Biscuits and gravy are just heaven. I love gravy in general whether it’s flavored with sausage, made from the drippings of chicken fried steak or just a simple white sauce that I love with creamed tuna on toast. When we are out for breakfast, I love ordering chicken fried steak or biscuits and gravy . At home, sausage gravy is my go to. Such flavor and from start to finish, easy and the best meal ever. I’ll be honest and I am sure most home cooks can relate. When you go out to eat, you want a break from the kitchen, but when you get your food you think, I should have stayed home and cooked. How I Breakfast Sausage
Lish Recipes

Breakfast sausage is a no brainer right? More often then not, I see recipes where they throw the sausage in the pan with oil in it and start frying it up. I wanted to share how I breakfast sausage. The end result is the same no matter how you cook it. My Mama taught me to put a little water in the pan first and steam the sausage on each side, then brown it up once the water dissipates. This lessens the cooking time and ensures that the pink gets cooked out. How I Breakfast Sausage Turn the stove on medium to medium high heat. The video below is medium, my stove runs hot. How I Mexican Rice
Lish Recipes

My busy season just ended (bookkeeping & 1099s) and I couldn’t wait to get back in here and start writing about my goings on in the kitchen. We just wrapped up dinner here and put all the leftovers away. I whipped up some 4-way burritos with Spanish rice, or is it Mexican rice? I had to look it up. Based on that description, these are Mexican rice recipes because cumin is is my repertoire of spices and have never purchased saffron in my life. If you don’t use cumin a whole lot, go easy! It’s pretty strong. We buy organic refried beans from Costco and they have cumin in the ingredients, an ..read more

One-Pot Beef Stroganoff from Leftover Prime Rib
Lish Recipes

We had a good chunk of prime rib leftover from Christmas dinner and my husband mentioned beef stroganoff, a dish that I haven’t made in quite some time, what a great idea I thought! I couldn’t wait to make it, but I was perplexed at the process because how I usually make it is by browning the meat and cooking the steak in the sauce for a bit. For this stroganoff, I wanted to have that wonderful flavor of the meat but without overcooking the prime rib. How I made One-Pot Beef Stroganoff from Leftover Prime Rib You will need: Large pot/pan with lid. Olive oil 2 tablespoon minced onion Two meat ..read more

Copycat Marie Callender’s Ham Stack Sandwich

Back in the day I had a friend that I met at Marie Callender’s frequently to hang out. My favorite thing to order was their ham stack sandwich that you could get it by itself or as part of the Souper Sandwich combo. The ham is a nice change from the usual chicken sandwich or hamburger. This copycat recipe is like the original; a grilled parmesan crusted toast with sliced ham, tomato, lettuce and thousand island dressing. A simple lunch or dinner you can throw together in 15 minutes or less. Don’t forget that extra dressing on the side for dipping! Here is how I do it… You will need: Bread Ol ..read more

Have you ever had frozen bananas before? They are surprisingly lish straight out of the freezer! I remember my Mom giving them to me as a kid and it was like having an ice cream treat. I am still eating them today and giving them to my toddlers, but it is also a great way to preserve the bananas before they get too brown. I recently used the frozen bananas in my smoothies and found that it made it creamier than using ice. Give it a go! Here is how I freeze bananas. Remove the peels Slice into thirds Brush with lemon juice (keeps them from browning and adds nice flavor to them IMO) Place in a ..read more

I love having a garden every year. The quality of the tomatoes far exceeds what you get at the grocery store and I love being able to grab veggies throughout when I need it for a recipe in the kitchen. But there comes that time of the year when we see on the weather forecast that a freeze is imminent and it’s end of garden season. It was a team effort, my hubby took care of the garden and I did the work in the kitchen. What I did with the Fresh Veggies from the Garden Jalapenos – Used in a variety of ways. Froze in a freezer baggie to grab as needed for cooking dinners. Made bacon wrapped s ..read more
