I have a water dog - a beautiful black lab who's now 14 years old and still chugging along although rather slowly and without much grace these days. When she was in her younger years and got near any body of water, she looked like the poster dog for an outdoor magazine - she would leap from the shore, fly into the water, and swim for hours retrieving balls, sticks, and sometimes river rocks (I don't know why). She was an incredible sight and oh so very entertaining. Now she's deaf and stumbly so she doesn't leave the house much. She is not, and never has been, a fishing dog. I also have an o ..read more

Hello New Friend! Welcome to She’s Fly™ , a fly shop for all people with a particular focus on products by and for women. We have collectively practiced fly fishing for more than 20 years and know the struggles that women face when getting into this sport. From navigating fly shops and feeling embarrassed that you don't know what you need or feeling isolated because you do know what you need but aren't taken seriously, we've been there. We've bought the ill-fitting waders and boots because there were no other options. We've been asked "are you buying something for your husband?" or "the girls ..read more

I once described why I love fly fishing to a psychiatrist, explaining my time on the river as engaged yet calm, physically active but internally at peace- relaxed and focused. My exact words still echo in my mind, "You get to think like a fish, it's the most relaxing thing in the world." Catching the fish was fun too, but the time to just be and exist as a ..read more

My fly fishing story begins a little less than 10 years ago after my husband passed away. My first love, Tony, was a huge part of my life because we grew up together and fell in love at a very young age. We met in junior high school at 12 years old, started "going out" at 13, moved in together at 22, and got married at 27. He passed away tragically and suddenly in November 2009 when we were both 31 years old. It was impossible for me to imagine a life without him. After we got married, Tony told me about fishing with his dad as a child and wanted to get back into it. I got him a spin rod & ..read more
