Amy & Elliot’s Arctic Valley wedding at Alpenglow Lodge was my first big event to kick off the 2021 wedding season. After a year like 2020, it was the *best* wedding to start off with! All of the credit for that goes to Amy & Elliot’s thoughtfulness and intentionality. So often I hear people say things like “this is *our* day, and we’re doing what *we* want’ and while this is entirely true, it seemed like Amy & Elliot’s approach to planning was much more other-focused. You could just tell how important it was to them to host a party where every single person in attendance not only ..read more

Hannah & Mason’s Talkeetna Wedding last Fall was a lesson. In letting your light shine. In embracing your personal style and running with it. In knowing yourself. It was the fruit of these two not only surrounding themselves with friends and family on the wedding day but clearly having prioritized close relationships for many years and then having those people to lean on on the most important day.
I was soaking it all in, and proud to be a part.
Cheers to you, Hannah + Mason. Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness together.

Like most of the country, I have spent the last month in either self-isolation or abiding by mandatory hunker-down orders. It has been a wild season, and I will probably share more on how I’m doing here in my little isolation bubble at another time. But not today! Today I’m going to talk about Catherine & Corky’s King Street Brewery Wedding and forget about everyting else for just a minute.
I met Catherine at her best friend’s Priya’s wedding about 5 years ago. I observed their friendship and Catherine’s dry sense of humor and caring personality and just adored her instantly. Out of the bl ..read more

I’m going to get to this Girdwood Elopement at Alyeska Resort, I promise. But first, a little business because it’s been a while!! I have been a wedding photographer for more than TEN Years now, and I’m going to be honest: This is the longest that I have gone without blogging a wedding or a shoot. Ever! I used to blog every single time I had a shoot. no. matter. what. There are a few reasons why I’ve taken a major break from blogging that span from burnout to having a third child to having conflicted and changing feelings on what/how/when to blog my work. Also, the world has changed a bit in t ..read more

If you missed my first post about our home remodeling journey, the big Before post – you should really check that post out before reading this one. I shared the story of how we found this house and the scope of work we did, and you really can’t appreciate the transformation without seeing that!
I wasn’t planning on getting this After post together so quickly, but we had the house cleaned last week so it was primed for me to photograph, and then the next day we had a gorgeous sunny night after a week of gray days so…carpe diem! Everything isn’t styled perfectly and I didn’t move our things arou ..read more

If you make it through this whole post, cheers to you for sticking with me! Its a long one. I could have pared it way down, but this is more for myself than for anyone else. It’s been fun for me to sort through photos and reflect on the process that has taken up so much of our time and energy for so long. Here we go…Anchorage Home Remodel
I still remember the first time Jamie showed me photos of our house on Zillow. (Spoiler alert: They were ROUGH and showed nothing good about the home.) It was in the late Summer of 2016 and we had been talking about selling our house in the College Village ne ..read more

I’m going to let you in on a little wedding photographer secret…love at first sight happens to us too, with couples that we photograph. Well, I guess I can’t speak for everyone, but it definitely happens to me. I fell head over heels for Mark & Jodie from the first time we met. Ha! Sound a little crazy? That’s fine…its still true. There is just something about these two that draws you in and makes you want to be around them. They are so easy going, very genuine and kind and also so dang quirky and hilarious. I knew from the first that their wedding would be a dream to photograph, and it 10 ..read more

I have been looking forward to this Kincaid Chalet Wedding all Summer, and I’m so excited to share a few of my favorites here! Kat & Cameron have a fairytale kind of sweetness about them, and their story is incredibly unique. After first meeting virtually while *playing a video game* {yes, you read that right – next gen love story right there!} Cameron chased love all the way from Arizona to Alaska and you don’t have to know Kat for long to understand why.
When I first posted this wedding in my instagram stories I literally had multiple people ask ‘what venue is this??!’ I’m pretty sure no ..read more

One of my favorite things about photographing weddings around the state is seeing familiar areas with fresh eyes. Seward is one of the places that I have gone at least once a year since coming to Alaska 10 years ago. I’ve gone for the Fourth of July several times, gone camping many times, hiked lost lake and photographed a few engagement sessions there. Chris & Malia’s day was the first time I got to go there for a wedding and I took the opportunity to scout a few gorgeous new locations and fall in love with Seward all over again. I also took the opportunity to stop in to the Salmon Sister ..read more

Before the wedding Matt gave each of his groomsmen a unique pin – someone got the topatio man, another guy got a martini glass. When at the end of the night I got a little camera pin, I almost cried. Because, how incredibly thoughtful that they took the time to think of me with all of the other things that they had going on before their own wedding day?! I can’t even stand how thoughtful that is, and it makes me want to be better at that kind of thing. It really is so meaningful! Crow Creek Mine Weddings
That small example will give you a picture of the kind of people that these two are, and w ..read more
