The excitement of celebrating milestones with your child as a single parent is sometimes robbed by the guilt thief. Guilt that no one one else, is there to celebrate with them. Not that my enthusiasm and cheers for her are insufficient but these thoughts always creep in that she should have another being here to celebrate with her.
Those are similar thoughts, but in a different scenario, when I am trying to navigate the harder moments of parenting, especially as a conscious parent. Sometimes it is hard to remain in a conscious state when my mind immediately goes to, “How is this fair?” , “Why ..read more

“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” - Dr. Maya Angelou
We are living in a world where we are consumed by instant gratifications, highlight reels of success and “living my best life” posts that makes it oh so easy to get caught up in comparing your journey to others. Easily forgetting that the beauty we see now is the results of #change; results of making a DECISION to change.
The process of change may appear fearful. It may feel uncomfortable. Maybe it just fckn hurts to go through.

Hey mama hey,
It may be spring break for several us this month but let me tell you, here in the Midwest it doesn’t FEEL like spring!!!! I have been turning on my heat at night time and the air conditioner on during the day time. Like I wish the weather would commit to a temperature that is predictable. I find myself asking Alexa every morning, “What’s the weather”?” , just so I can dress my daughter appropriately for preschool- because she has called me out several times when I forgot a hat or coat :). She’s my very grown forty-four year old!!!
Now that our spring break vacation is over and we ..read more

Hey mama’s
As we approach Valentine’s Day I wanted to share one of my original blob pieces I wrote back in 2018 as a brand new mommy- single mommy!
As I lie on the floor of the nursery (hey, this mamá is tired!) I look up and see a framed picture of Sweet Sage at one week old. I remember hanging that pesky ole frame before she was even born. Watching it swing back and forth on the nail head as I stepped back and forth in my penguin belly stance. Readjusting, catching my breath as my belly was beyond watermelon size, and then realigning with my pristine eyeball measurements. Now, inside that fr ..read more

Happy New Year Mama!!!
If you are reading this, know that it is NOT by accident at all. 2020 was a very unprecedented time for all of our lives and unfortunately many did not survive those times. I do not take it lightly that God has continue to provide me with breath to keep moving forward in my PURPOSE in serving other mothers and children.
I like to start my year off by actually reflecting on the previous year. I have been working on this worksheet to reflect and plan out my 2021 year. Maybe you like to write out resolutions, or create vision boards, or hold on to a specific word for the y ..read more

My daughter was only two months young when the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, departed the White House. I remember the sadness I had in my heart during that time as I reflected on how his success was a MONUMENTAL moment in history, especially for Black Americans. Albeit she was too young to know who he is or the significance of why he is celebrated I wanted to make sure I captured this moment to commemorate this time in history because only God would know when we would see this day again.
I have no idea how I came across this information but literally weeks before the Obam ..read more

I have always loved the autumn season and even more so now because at our house it is full of birthday celebrations and fall activities. Celebrations this year has looked very different in our home, just like many others across the world. We have attended virtual birthday party celebrations and even hosted one. We have enjoyed picking berries and apples, as we usually do, but this time wearing masks in the heat of the sun. Something else different has been the cancellation of flight trips for our annual family vacation. Bummer, only because she keeps asking me daily if the planes are “clean y ..read more

I talked a little bit about an old wives tale about butters and burns on my instagram page during Burn Awareness Week but this topic is just as important all year around, especially during this time of the year when there are more fun-filled holiday events and camping festivities.
Every 60 seconds someone sustains a burn injury...
….. and that burn injury is severe enough to require medical attention. Children are 2.4 times more likely to suffer from burn injures that require emergency medical treatment than the general population.
75% of burn injuries in children come from liq ..read more

Here are some ideas to get your day started and your mindset committed to positivity at the start of your day!
A morning routine is said to boost happiness.
1. Wake up before your alarm! No, seriously. I am such a snooze-queen, working on that! For me that means setting a pre-alarm so if that one gets snoozed the when the real one goes off I am more inclined to get out of the comfy bed.
This is is important to me because starting the day in chaos never works, not for my mood, productivity or for the toddler shenanigans to come throughout the day. It allows me to pray, read a devotio ..read more
