On August 18, 2021, the Senate Education Committee held a joint informational hearing with the Senate Special Committee on Pandemic Emergency Response. Alex Briscoe, CCT’s Principal, was invited to present on how the state can increase and improve support for the mental and behavioral health needs of students as they return to in-person learning during ongoing challenges of the pandemic.

California’s influential independent state oversight agency invited Alex Briscoe to provide testimony during Part 1 of a three-part series of panels titled “COVID 19 and Children’s Mental Health.”
The discussion explored the impact of the COVID pandemic on children’s mental and emotional well-being. It also explored opportunities for California to support children’s mental and emotional health, and ensure that children have access to care and services.

The Trust formed over two years ago, grew through a planning process that included contributions from over 400 organizations, and is now a coalition-supported initiative that is leading a statewide conversation to reimagine children’s mental health services and delivery.

California Youth Mental Health Crisis Worsened by COVID-19 and Must Be Addressed
